What did you do to your FJR today?

If you're going out there, it's the only way to go for me. From here it would be a slab ride on a bike, and a waste of tires. I've done it at least 4 times, and each time we've had a mix of torrential rains, extreme heat, and once hail that forced us to stop. I can't imagine riding it.

Yea, after two 500 mile days on the interstates we decided the same thing.

I remember I wanted to be more like him and think as he did.

As I look at the awful weather in the south and mid-west I think less of riding my FJR cross country.

The 2007 Iron Butt Rally was one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life. There were times when I was riding it that I was in the darkest of places in my head and seriously questioned why the hell I was doing it and exactly what was my f***ing purpose on earth!

Now, I am proud to have completed it and makes for a great memory and one hell of a story. And the nightmares have finally stopped. Mostly.

It's not the always needing maintenance that kills me, it's that something always needs you to give the government money to keep the license plate current. Ugh.

Rode it about 200 miles today with the local BMW group. Great guys to ride with. We enjoyed a nice lunch at a golf course and it was good to catch up with my new friends. A few of them were at the national MOA rally in Redmond Oregon.

The riding pace today was brisk and the suspension on my 17 ES, while set to two helmets preload, still left the chassis rocking despite just my ass on the bike.

My wife is leaving town for a week on Friday and I am going somewhere. Right now it looks like Lolo Pass to Jellystone, Beartooth and Chief Joseph Hwy. This a three day ride so I have time, if the weather is favorable, to tack on Jasper Alberta in Canada. Time will tell. Man I love retirement! Where to go for a week is a first world problem!

Road it to the last 2 of 4 major continental divides (plus other mtn passes) in Colorado on this trip, Monarch and Cottonwood. Starting for PA and home early tomorrow morning. Vacation always make time speed up.

200 miles in the sauna. Left the house at 8:00 am with a soaked T-shirt, and sunscreen on my face. The ride East was actually tolerable with a little bit of evaporative cooling from my wet T-shirt.

Julie (FJR Farrier) and Mitchell are back from a cruise departed out of NOLA and were kind enough to give Andrew (Redfish) and I (and earlier, Natehawk) some time. We had a nice visit. That young lady is shining quite well in "fiance' form", ya'll. As you can see, in typical fashion, Andrew is estatic!

The ride coming home (Interstate) was absolutely miserable. 96 degrees, at least 50% humidity, and a shit ton of traffic (everybody is going to and from the beach). I did pull over for a pirate stopped on the shoulder. His saddle bag opened and the contents (clothes, snacks, etc) scattered. He had gathered his belongings and was reloading them when I stopped. I offered him my ROK straps, but he insisted that it was his error for not securing the saddle bag properly. He shook my hand ernestly in thanks for stopping, and I ripped onward to the house.

I don't care what you ride. If you are a biker stopped on the side of the road, I'm gonna make sure you are OK.

That should do it for the FJR until we leave for the rest of the summer. Just too hot and humid.
