40 degrees at our campsite this morning; low 40s as we rode thru YNP. Having coffee and scones in Cody where it is sunny and 60. Rest of the ride today should be very comfortable.

It was cold Saturday and Sunday night at elevation in the BH at Custer Crossing. It dipped to the 30s both nights. I am well prepared. Rain chased me north to Spearfish City Campground today. It’s beautiful here. Food is waiting for coals to burn down in fire ring.

See you all soon.

Well we are going to gave to jump to plan B. Due to a scheduling conflict we need to be home a few days earlier than expected.

Due to the heat and distance we would just have to ride too hard to get home after the event. So we are punting.

Nothing bad. We are fine. We just want to have time to enjoy a trip out west. We are just not up to long days in this heat. We don't have the luxury of short days to make this trip due to the time frame.

Everybody enjoy. See you guys next time.

I got caught in a long downpour a couple of weeks ago. I thought to myself "This is still better than being at work".
I'm not sure that applies to crazy heat. Motorcycling should be fun. Pushing through and being miserable and potentially unsafe does not sound fun. Good for you for making a decision that will bring more smiles and less heat stroke.

Camping or hotel?

I am camping over by the creek.

I know all of you had a good time today, but let me burst your bubble right now…… no one and I mean no one could have had more fun than me today. 200+ miles of the BDR Off pavement was absolutely epic. Pics later after I cook this dinner.

Aww shit Dan. Understandable though. I'm retired, i can take as much time as i want. Line however has to be back at work on Wednesday. It'll be tickity-boo on the return trip. Luckily, the camper has absolutely ridiculous A/C.

Stay safe and we'll see you soon.

I normally prefer Irish, but was invited to try some bourbon by our host and felt it would be ungentlemanly to refuse; and, it is pretty darn good bourbon. I was also gifted a bottle of a very fine scotch by Fester and had a bit of that as well. One should not let inclinations stand in the way of examining other forms of the distiller’s bounty.

We will be hoteling it. So far, on our almost three week trip we have camped about 50% of the time. That is 100% more than I prefer.
