Riding the Cabot trail

I will be in Nova Scotia tomorrow & was wondering if anyone who has ridden the Cabot trail had any suggestions or wanted to tag along(lead the way). Not sure if I will be able to ride more than Saturday but may do Sunday as well. I will be in Greenwood NS tonight and plan to head for Cabot trail first thing in the morning. Plan to ride Ceilidh Trail along the western coast then eventually get to Aldouane, NB Saturday night or Sunday depending on what I pack into Saturday.

No particular suggestions. It is an incredibly scenic ride and great to do when you are not at the height of tourist season.
Weather looks quite reasonable, but cool for Saturday and Sunday.
The last time I rode it, I was a bit disappointed with road condition in places but that was a few years ago. (Haven't seen any recent reports.) Take your time and take lots of photos.

Detour off the Cabot at South Harbour onto White point road. It'll hook back up with the trail at Nels Harbour. Your just skipping the most boring bit for something far more scenic and genuine.

Agreed - that could be a NICE bonus that doesn't take you much out of your way. If you aren't allergic to a bit of dirt road (and have some spare time), continuing to Meat Cove (and back) is very much worthwhile.

Mudder and I have been in touch. The only thing I forgot to mention is don’t bother stopping at the entrance of the park unless you are feeling overly generous. There is a slight chance that a warden may ask you for your pass if stopped at a look off but you simply pay the entrance fee then.

So situation normal. West side is always rain and fog. Just like going over top of lake Superior in the spring or fall.

I made it home late Monday night although it was the trip from hell it was still better than a good day at work. As Scott already informed the warmest it was on the trail was 13c and Sunday morning I started riding at 3c when I left home it was 32c & according to forcasted weather of high teens for a low I figured I was good to go. I was correct for the trip out but once into Nova Scotia a whole new storey. It was grey mostly some fog and occasional rain, Then Sunday morning flat with no cell coverage woo hoo. So I find a spot with coverage and call AMA roadside assist & I am informed coverage expired, Odd it is set up for auto renew and has done so for the last 7 years never used it. (On my list to deal with now that I am home & confirmed credit card was charged)
The flat was caused by extended metal 90 deg valve extenders on the original short rubber stems, The centrifugal force was attempting to extract the rubber valve stem from the rim & while doing so was allowing air to escape. So the fix was soapy water to push the stem back into rim and toss the extenders (Aluminum 90 deg valve stems ordered yesterday) Toss anything you have on a rubber valve stem other than a cap to save the grief & aggravation.
Oh but it gets better When coming through Quebec into Ontario Monday afternoon experiencing higher winds than in Nova Scotia then I get a weather advisory on my phone tornado in the area makes sense & on par for the course, I survived & took cover during the hail. Once back into Ontario weather was a balmy 20-22c with occasional rain the rest of the way home & otherwise uneventful even partially sunny on occasion. I hope this was a training period & not a precursor to our trip out to Big Johns then out to California in June.
Honorable mention to Scott (Canadian FJR) for helping me navigate the terrain and offering a watchful eye on my trip into the abyss of Nova Scotia his guidance & suggestions were spot on, Thank you.

Glad you're home and safe once again. You should get an adventure bike if you're going to have an adventure.

Hopefully you got all the travel issues out of your system before we head out West. Look at the bright side...... You wore some tread off of your tires to allow for new rubber for the trip out West. Good work!

I was once crossing the plains of Abraham North of Montreal and the sky was all greens and purples but only spitting.

Then the sky dropped, rain, hail, crazy winds and no shelter to be found. The roads were so worn there was two huge gutters in each lane. A transport is coming at me with a bow wave off the front like the queen mary. I pulled over and stopped and braced myself, thankfully, the truck slowed way down. But it was still enough to almost take me off the bike.

Miserable.

I finally found a restaurant in the middle of nowhere with a packed parking lot. I walk onto the main foyer and see everybody wearing there Sunday best. Then the manager comes over and tells me to leave in French. I pretended i didn't know what he was talking about because I'm a tete carree.

Anyway, long story short, Quebec, if the weather doesn't get you, the SQ will.
