Changed the batteries in the flashlight under the seat.
Had Wayne on speed dial but turns out didn't need him this time.

Rode it.
Temps ranged from 24 to 55 degrees.
I was reminded that it is completely comfortable cruising at 4k or 6k rpms...

I wiped it down and checked the tire pressures…then I rolled it out of the garage one last time so that the man from the BMW dealership could take it.
Then I rolled my new ‘24 BMW 1300 GS into the garage.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Congratulations. Let us know how you like the new machine. I test road one 8.2 miles recently. I liked it. The engine was very smooth, it seemed t have good suspension and the touring model I tried had excellent wind protection. The handle bars in the lowest position were a bit high for my taste and very little throttle movement was quick to provide one hell of of a lot of acceleration. I will stick with my FJR for now but I want to keep an eye on the 1300 GS.CollingsBob wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 8:57 pm I wiped it down and checked the tire pressures…then I rolled it out of the garage one last time so that the man from the BMW dealership could take it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Let’s get Hitler’s offspring out of this thread…lol you fkn thread shitters.
Changed front tire on a proper Yamaha 1298cc in-line 4. Brake pad thicknesses okay at 39kmiles…I guess I don’t use much besides the engine I guess, only halfway worn. Cleaned a bunch of grunge from the forks and plastic. Pretty nasty.
Changing rear tire tomorrow and checking and cleaning the f@$k out of the back half of the FJR.
Aftermarket 2bros cans came with this JWILLY special. I have the materials to repack the cans, that will likely stay on the “to do” list until after Ramble in SE Ohio.

I already have the baffle replacement kit from 2Bros...just never done it before. I will need to pick up a tool for this...but if nobody has ever done it before, I will just follow directions after YouTube how-to is reviewed first.

Tire pressure - check
Engine oil level - check
Battery voltage - check
Pre-flight done. She's been rolled out of the shop. Time to light the candle.

In 14 years and almost 300,000 miles on two FJR's, I have never needed to add oil between changes and I never change oil at less than 5,000 miles.
(I still check it from time-to-time.)

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Pulled Renee into the shop for some needed service today. Clutch and brake levers cleaned and lubed. Shifter and linkage cleaned and lubed. Rear brake pedal cleaned and lubed. Relay arm cleaned and lubed, all but top pivot. All the relay arm bearings, and pins looked good. Removed some corrosion form the bolts, greased, and buttoned her up. Took a short spin to test, hoping I put everything back together well. No issues, she's like butter!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Pried off the previous rear after 6300 easy interstate miles and a small bit of hooliganizing. Holy fk, that was bonded to the rim. Fk. Those were Duane's tires...they didn't want to come off. My repaired collarbone got load tested today. Hopefully, its a few years hence, but once I can't pry my own tires on and off the wheel, the nomar and the bike go on the market.
Took off and put on a PR4GT...with family discount...thus affordable. Balanced said tire. Getting old sucks. Took an hour walk with wifey and that took the wind out of my sails. Will clean frame and finish install tomorrow after STAX with griff...as well as change clutch and brake fluids.
With high winds today and tomorrow, epic NGA riding planned for Sunday.

No, no, no. Just means you go to an air and electric solution, or one within riding distance. Much less stress on the collarbone. What's your epic N. GA plan?wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 5:58 pm Pried off the previous rear after 6300 easy interstate miles and a small bit of hooliganizing. Holy fk, that was bonded to the rim. Fk.
