I generally don't ever buy used. I like to buy new. Take care of my vehicle and keep it for a long time. Works for me. Probably cost me money, but I feel better knowing the bikes history. I wish I was comfortable buying used.

Plus, every time I have ever seen a used FJR it's WAY over priced. Here is a 2014 I saw at a FL dealership. The dealership has huge fees.

About 30k miles, some scratches, stickers on the paint, cheap accessory lights. It was a 9 year old bike at that point. Not so good since many dealers are not working on bikes over 10 years old.

15K plus fees, tax, etc.

I see the same thing you do Dan. In looking for something to ride off-road, everyone kept saying "buy used". Around here, there is nothing used that's not insanity level pricing. I started looking for a dirt bike back around Covid times when the prices exploded. Bikes that used to be $1000 were now $2,500. Sorry, I'm not paying you $2,500 for a 10 year old bike that you paid $2,700 for new, and you rode it hard for 10 years. Especially when a new one is $2,800.

There are a lot of dealers out there with good prices and no fees so I'd never consider most of what I see. If you want me to pay you near new pricing, then it better be a lot closer to being new than used.

I wish it was better around here for used bikes. I look every few days to see if there's anything of value around and I never see anything but high priced used bikes.

I've never bought a used bike from a motorcycle dealer. Always way too expensive and then they have a bunch of hidden stuff when you get there. Had a friend found a decent deal, but they added on the oil change and new tires they'd done at the time of sale. To me, new tires was what got me in there in the first place and is the price of doing business, but they didn't see it that way. I'd have walked out at that, but he bought the bike anyway.

The deals are starting to show back up again, but COVID really did a number on the used vehicle market. I've seen quite a few deals on the local forums that had me wishing we were not building a house and that I wasn't currently hemorrhaging cash at the moment. :D

My FJR was an oddity, I actually bought it used from a used car dealer. Gas prices were sky high at the time and they dabbled in motorcycles to see if they could make some side money. Didn't really work out but a guy had used his FJR as trade on a car, so they had it there. If I ever get time to ride it, I'll click over 100K on my $7K FJR. Definitely been a good deal for sure.

If you are on the other FJR forums, those 14's are going way cheaper than that, and the prices don't have a 1 in the front. Ridiculous.

When I was thinking about selling my 15ES, they were not selling for very much. Decided it wasn't worth it to sell it. Glad I kept it.

Copied this from another sandbox........ makes me wonder if Yammy is clearing out and IF 2024 will be the last year..... it was also interesting that Yammy had leftover 2021-22 Tracers and never even brought out a 2023.... then they somehow decided to bring the (over)loaded upscale GT+ for North America but did not bring the lower priced standard featured GT (only in Europe).

" saw a new '23 FJR advertised on Cycle Trader for $14,999 and contacted the dealer. The dealership is Tri-County Honda Yamaha, etc. in Petersburg, WV. (304-257-4420) They emailed me this afternoon. The FJR which was advertised had already sold, but they expect three more 2023s to arrive within a month. There are no freight or setup charges. There is a $200 document fee and $5 for a temporary tag, so $15,204 out the door. Pay tax, tag and title in your own state.
Petersburg is not close to anything, and not easily accessible from anywhere, but it is surrounded by twisty roads and beautiful scenery.
It happened that my wife and I are going there to see my in-laws in May, and I was looking to replace my 2007. A salesperson named Lacey Ault emailed an invoice, and I put a deposit down."

That was one of the dealers I alluded to. Yes, interesting they are getting two more. Great deal but hard to get to.
Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

I think that might have been where FYB got his 2015 from.
