I raised the seat to remember what the high position felt like. It was okay.

Replaced the batteries in my troller for good measure.

Ironed an aerostich patch inside my Darien jacket, because the shroud from my optic is abrading that area. We’ll see if it stays stuck….

With seat height I'm and either/or guy. For longer riding with few stops I prefer high. When in towns playing tourist with lots of stops I prefer low for the stability of stops and gos.

You take binoculars with you inside your jacket? That’s weird, I didn’t know you were a birder.

Ride the FJR to Wednesday night poker game. The $18 dollars lost was well worth the price to ride up there. I sometimes forget how good the weather protection with the CB shield is. Combined with the heated grips, seat, and jacket, the FJR never disappoints after making the decision to ride in average weather.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Rode my 2014 to work this morning. First time I've been on it since Thanksgiving when I bought the 2013. First world problem deciding which bike to ride.

I rode it (FJR) up to just across the boarder from Sumas to pick something up for a friend and stopped at a Tim Horton's for coffee, then went down to Lynden to meet friends and was showed some different ways around from an old service tech. Sun was out and almost balmy at 50 something degree's.

Took 4 hours PTO yesterday, and got out for a nice 150 mile ride. It was a beautiful day.

Rode it hard and fast through wind and rain. Got home, washed it.

Swapped shields, seats, stripped the topcase and gps off.

Got my 2024 Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas flag this past week. I needed to run an errand up to the north side of the metroplex, and all three of the "In Dallas" Grand Tour locations were nearby. I thought long and hard about which bike to take for some DFW urban highway blasting. Settled on the FJR for today.

Knocked out my errand and all three. Temps were 54F when I woke up, 68F when I finally got out of the house and 84F when I got home. how big is Dallas you ask? Well, I didn't even go all the way across, and the locations being kind of close, and me staying entirely in the city, I clocked right around 130 miles total for the out and back.

Of the three, the only one worth going into was Moto Liberty. Probably one of the best gear shops you could ever visit. They are a major distributor for Taichi brand stuff, which I'm not a fan of. They do have a crap ton of RevIt gear and probably the most Klim gear I've ever seen in one place. Lots of other brands too. They are definitely fans of putting as much gear for you to see, touch, and try on, in their shop, not trying to be all pretty and too many things like Cycle Gear. They did have what I was looking for though. They had received exactly one XD5 helmet so I got to hold it and look at it. Not my size but the big shipment will be end of March or April, which could work out for me.

It sure felt good to get the first ride of the year in today. Would have been sooner but have been recovering from bicep surgery. Therapist gave me the green light to ride just no putting the bike on the centerstand, nope a month or so away on that. Was a beautiful day in S.C. and had most of the roads to my self. Always a great feeling knowing that it’s just the beginning of the season and lots to look forward to.

Yesterday...

Weather here is turning. Sense of urgency present now as I realize how far behind I am on bike maintenance.

Forks off, broken down and draining. Tire changer off the shelf. Pull the tank, serviced the ground spiders under the tank.

It's good to read that the weather is moderating to the point where cobwebs are being blown off motorcycles.

(yesterday), I left my FJR in good hands and flew 1,000 miles home to nurse a sore back. That was kind of a wierd feeling - leaving the horse behind. I'll write more about it in a ride report, but not until the "trip" is finished. Next week, I'll fly back and ride the FJR home.

It sure is nice to have time and options when things don't go as planned (which is nearly ALWAYS - SNAFU)....

Not my FJR. I rode Toter's FJR and he rode his GS up to Tellico Plains. We had a bite to eat and rode the Cherohala Skyway from one end to the other. 242 miles for the whole trip from start to finish. A perfect weather day with a high temp of about 70°. It got down to the mid 50's over 5,000 feet on the Skyway. Another great day of riding!

I wasn't going to go there, but...

This is just a fluid flush and refill, and I remembered to crack the fork caps loose before removing them this time, so I won't have to wrestle with that part of it...

**insert sarcastic tone here** One more year?

Image

I have new brake pads. I bought them last year; removed old set, measured both with my digital calipers and the old set had what I thought was enough material for the season. I carried that new set of pads with me along with the tools to swap them if needed. I don't normally run wear items this close to end of life. You can see that even with swapping the pad sets around each season that there is still signifantly more wear on the leading edge set.

Outstanding brake pad material efficiency! Less brake material for the landfill as well.

And less brake material = less weight = more speed! :sherlock:
