I decided I would wait to read the ride report until I got home and could enjoy the pictures on the larger computer screen. Very glad I waited.

What a great idea. Enjoy some art. Maybe learn (or re-learn) some history. Great excuse to get out and ride. Just an awesome idea, indeed.

Well done and congrats on your success. Thank you for sharing this.

Most importantly.... as Ray has allueded ...... it's NEVER too cold for ice cream.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and for taking the time to wade through this report. I blame it all on D-Eagle as I had not intended to write this one up. Really made me pick my brain to remember a lot of the details from 9 months worth of riding. I've already signed up for the GLMC 2024 Grand Tour themed "Which Way Do We Go" featuring locations with compass points. The pics aren't going to be nearly as colorful this year but it should still be fun. Team Strange this year is offering a split Grand Tour that allows riders to play either event or both for one entry fee and scoring will be simple, you'll either be a finisher or you won't. I'm planning on playing both sides of the event.

If you've never done one of the Grand Tour events you might consider trying one. You'll visit a lot of interesting places and see some cool stuff

I liked the Johnstown ones because it reminded me of a previous visit through the area between CFR 2007 and EOM 2007 and visited the Johnstown Flood Memorial, a tragic manmade flood/dam collapse that I had read about.

Been there several times. If you're ever through there again you should go visit the cemetery where many of those killed are buried. Almost 800 plain white markers with no names since so many were never identified.

PA still has a tax on all alcohol related to paying off damage from the Johnstown flood.

I thought all the famous oligarchs would pay that when it happened lol. JP Morgan, et al...

Seriously though, Louanne and I are thinking about heading to the northeast sometime late summer after my outwest trip in June/July. Depending on how much time Louanne wants to be stuck travelling with me, I've got a path heading northward through Shanksville and Johnstown. Louanne has never been to those memorials.

Wheaty, We're located almost dead center between York and Harrisburg which puts us about one hour from Gettysburg and 2.5 hours from Johnstown. Let Dianne and I know the dates and we might be able to host you for a night or two if you want. I have 2 FJRs now and one is a 2013......

That's a really kind offer Chuck...I will get to finalize planning with Louanne and get back to you, so you can see if the timing is realistic. If the trip happens, our trip is likely commencing late July or early August. 2-3 weeks likely.

Meanwhile, back to the awesome murals...
