Changed the oil, filter, FD fluid. Had to settle for the last four quarts of MC 10w40 available locally, not the yamalube or full syn mobile 1 I prefer. But it’s done.
Thinking of swapping on the touring shield and seeing how deep into winter I can last before saving and putting the Aeroflow back on.

Got this done. Next check will be shim changes on all intakes. Most are just above minimum. Fresh coolant, plugs, and air cleaner complete winter mtce.

Some people pay extra money for dualsport bikes JUST so they can ride bumpy road surfaces. In SC you can do it for free!bill lumberg wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:51 pm Neither is having modern paved roads. lol.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I replaced the Energizer CR1632 batteries in my 2013 FOBO TPMS. April will be 3 yrs plus however long they were in there before I bought the bike. I noticed the other day when I enabled the phone app it initially said the front was a little low (indicating yellow) but later went back to green. I figure US$6.32 per battery per 3 yrs is a cost I can live with.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Gotta say, I'm not sure I'd do Fobo again. I think I'd be going with a product that has a dedicated screen. I don't mount my phone and I don't like the app always running in the background either. Every time I fire up the app to check, it takes a bit for it to update.rbentnail wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 3:30 pm I replaced the Energizer CR1632 batteries in my 2013 FOBO TPMS. Don't get me wrong, Fobo is a quality product, just that there's a few things I'd rather NOT use my phone for (and that list is short) and this is one of them. If they sold a dedicated screen, I'd buy it.

I absolutely get it for the absolute opposite reason- I don't want yet another piece of electronics hanging off the handlebars or velcroed somewhere. I'm a minimalist who, every time I see a pic of electronic cockpits on bikes thinks, "Jeebus dood, just take the car." A gps and a phone, most of the time. That's it.gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 5:28 pm Gotta say, I'm not sure I'd do Fobo again. I think I'd be going with a product that has a dedicated screen. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Went for a 50 mile ride. The rain came yesterday and washed all the salt off of the roads. Today was a cool, dry 45°. 3 layers of sweatshirts and my Klim Latitude gear kept me reasonable warm along with the heated grips and windscreen raised. It was a relaxing and enjoyable ride. Happy New Year to all!

Garmin was terribly expensive at $75/wheel but the status appears on my 595 with no new things laying around.gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 5:28 pmGotta say, I'm not sure I'd do Fobo again. Resisting an XT because Garmin dropped support for their TPMS.

The tiny little TPMS screen is MUCH smaller than mounting your phone to the handlebars.rbentnail wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:21 pmI absolutely get it for the absolute opposite reason- I don't want yet another piece of electronics hanging off the handlebars or velcroed somewhere. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Same here. I run the Garmin TPMS on mine. I got them because I want giant audible alarms going off in my head when I have a tire pressure issue. I've seen the add on ones with the little square display you mount. That's fine but in order for me to catch an emergency issue, I'd have to be looking down and see the thing. I love the Garmin setup. Just wish my Sena had loved the Garmin. Haven't heard the tire pressure alarm in my Cardo yet, so we'll see if it's any better.
I want lights and buzzers going off if my pressure is rapidly dropping.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
On my 14 GS, when I got that huge shard of metal in my rear tire, a big orange triangle appeared on the BMW Nav V, and I got an audible beep in the helmet speakers. Took a second to pull up tire pressure, already at 20 lbs from 42. Pulled over within .1 mi. with 0 psl. I usually have the Nav displaying tire pressures, but not in this instance. I now keep it displayed somewhere, all the time. Don't have this on the FJR. Unfortunately, the Zumo XT doesn't support tpms. I also need a solution.

This afternoon I pulled the licence plate off my FJR and removed all of the tools from under the seat. As excited as I am to get a brand new bike…it kinda sux that my FJR is going to get traded in.
I shit you not..the FJR is the best bike I’ve owned in 60 years of riding. Massive power, great handling, comfortable, hugely reliable..it is one muscular ballet dancer.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Here is the saddest thing ever. My fuel log from the FJR.
That bottom number should read the 30th though as it was today, and I did get out and ride it.
This is the current state of the KTM 1190 Adventure R, hence why I dug out the FJR for today's ride.
Friends of mine decided to go riding today and the weather was freaking amazing. A bit chilly this morning but warmed up to the mid 60's.
Doug is my buddy on the far left. He's a certified KTM nut, he's got the 1290 Super Duke Evo on the far right. His daughter, Diana, has the other 1290 Super Duke. Her husband Brad, has recently gotten into riding and has been upgrading his ride. He's got the scary monster MT-10 in the back. I got to ride all of the bikes today. Riding Diana's 1290 made me want my KTM back together as they are very similar and have the same dash. Good times and great weather. 184 miles traveled today.
Let's hope it's not another nine months for the poor FJR. Tomorrow, we check valves on a V-Twin RC8 engine. Maybe.
