I set it up for a Black Friday ride with Lumberg. One of those things was to load a gps file named "2022.05.21_28 GAP cherohala wayah to homeride".

Edit: No, I didn't wash it. (Fist bump with Geek)

My current rs3 is just approaching the wear bars in the center, but I’ve got a miles coming up and I’m going to bite the bullet and get a new one, so I don’t get caught short, or worse, have to abort or cancel a ride due to a worn out tire.
I cut a cross section through my first RS3 when it was bald and found a lot of rubber between tread and cords. This was the front:

Image
Amount of rubber is worthless when they are lumpy turds. Good to see someone else pull one of these lumpy front tires off. RS3's I had did the same thing on the FJR and on a GS. I know you guys seem to love those things, but, not going there a third time. They also handle like a turd when they get that way. I currently have Continental Trail Attack 3's on the 21 GS, and Continental Road Attack 4's on the FJR. On the GS, I have about 6,300 mi.on them, and they're wearing very evenly. Look to have another 3-4,000 in them easily. They are not dual compound. Continental says the rubber is hardened by heating the center differently???? I don't know, but they are doing good so far. FJR only has 1,500 mi.on them. I can tell you at 6,300 mi., RS3's would be lumpy turds in front, and toast on the rear by now, based on my previous experience. On the GS, I run them at 38-42, FJR 42-42.
I spent most of my money on guns, motorcycles, women, and whiskey. The rest I just wasted!

The only front tire I have used in 85,000 miles on the FJR which didn't sour towards EOL was a T31GT. So I have a T32GT mounted now. The T31 and T30 not-GT soured, and had half the life of the T31GT.

Changed that RS3 because the visible tread was disappearing, long past the wear bars.

I find that although there may be significant rubber between the wear bars and the cord, it goes quickly. I have been surprised by cord appearance when I thought I had a few hundred miles left. (Returning from a trip) Wonder if it is a softer compound?

I have been mostly using RSIII for the last few years. I found them to be decent for the price. Just finishing a set of T32GT (pretty decent) and a set of RS IV will go on in the early spring.

Watch for the rubber to change color. When it does, it wears really fast. They use a different rubber to bind to the cords than for the tread. Just as they use yet another rubber to line the inside to hold air. Tread rubber is porous, won't hold air. This is why a plug has to reach inside and seal around the hole from the inside. This is why plugs don't don't always work the first time but maybe the next one you put in the hole does. The string though the hole only keeps water and debris away from the cords.

Bought it a friend.

Crappy cell phone pic but will post more once I get it home. 2013 with just under 60k miles, original owner. Has Leo Vince slip ons, Michelin Road 6GT tires with about 2k miles on them, Yuasa battery installed in March of this year. Stock seat, Sargent seat, Saddleman seat, and printed Yamaha factory service manual all included. Retired guy moved onto a Tracer GT and wanted to get down to just one bike. Posted up as Black Friday sale price of $3000. I couldn't look away any longer.

Well bought for $3k. Indeed, Chuck.

Had ice cream.

Owner had posted it on another forum for 4k then. 3.5k and finally on Wednesday for 3k and I couldn't take it anymore. Bike is worth way more even as it sits. Need to make some room in the garage now.

Did you get the stock pipes as well as the LV? I had a set of those on my low mileage '07 when I bought it and found they started to get louder than I liked at 50,000 miles or so. I really didn't want to get into repacking them every 50,000 or so. The OEM mufflers went back on and were still on it when I sold the bike at 186,000 miles. (For me, quieter is better.)

I looked at that bike and it it had been closer or before the local weather had turned bad, I would have gone for a look as soon as the price had dropped to $3,500. (Wouldn't have lasted long even at $4,000 if it had been spring instead of almost winter.)

Great deal Chuck. Can't even buy a decent dual sport for $3k. Seems to be a lot of people lusting after 2013's. Is there a particular reason, other than the color? I thought everybody knew that 15's were the fastest.

No stock mufflers, sadly.

I have a stock set. When I got my 15, the left can had a little rash from the previous owner's parking lot drop in gravel. I bought a full set and used the left one. Right side is perfect, left has a little rash but completely serviceable if you're interested.

Will keep that in mind. Short test ride the LV sounded nice. Will see how I feel after owning for a while.

Whenever, HMFIC and Lumberg are riding with me, they are always saying, "Nice cans!". I always presumed they were talking about aftermarket exhaust.

Checked the oil and tire condition. After chasing Wheaton yesterday, I needed to make sure it was still rideable.

Rode it to the store to buy stuff to smoke ribs. Rode it hard. It’s incredibly freeing to have a prepaid, prescheduled rear tire replacement a couple of days off. I need to accelerate like this more.

Reading between the lines: Lots of carbon buildup yesterday. Had to blow out the carbon today to get it back in working order! Lol

Hey, I pedaled as hard as I could!
