I'm doing it. Those of you who have or intend to, did you or would you replace the guide and rub blocks? Top one, front one, and tensioner one? Already did new tensioner...
Thanks
Tim

Re: Changing cam chain
Wouldn't think so, I have herd of the guides lasting forever.
If there is no wear I wouldn't worry.

Yea, just check for wear. If there isn't any, leave them.
Trying to be different, just like everyone else.

Re: Changing cam chain
Just curious here if you are changing the cam chain are you going to changing both spockets? and then of course why are you changing them. How many miles are on the bike.

Re: Changing cam chain
Valid points Tom... I've wondered about the sprockets myself. I know over the years when I've done this with automotive engines it was done as a unit.

Re: Changing cam chain
Actually the only thing I can find in the Yamaha service manual is to change chain with the two cam gears and the Crank Shaft... Not the crank shaft gear. The crank shaft.

Re: Changing cam chain
I just rechecked the micro fiche at Ronayers.com and the crankshaft gear is not sold separately from the crankshaft. If you want to replace the crankshaft gear you will be replacing the entire crank at $588.Name Etc. wrote:Actually the only thing I can find in the Yamaha service manual is to change chain with the two cam gears and the Crank Shaft...
