Changed the brake and clutch fluid. Changed the engine oil and FD oil. Ordered an air filter.

Hey! Don't hate me 'cause ya ain't me.

Had a nice 250 miles yesterday. I've managed to meet Jerry, a Facebook friend that lives in Helen, GA. We met on FB because we have a couple of common friends. Turns out, Jerry owned 3 FJRs over the years - he was "Cognosticator" on the other sandbox - small world.

Anyhoo - Jerry and a few of his friends let me play with them yesterday. I left early heading for the meeting place, sniffing a bit when it suited me. This old farm house was pretty neat.

Image

I've always wanted to stop and check out this place. You just don't see this type of store very often.

Image

The OTC "drug" stuff was outragous, but BION, the gun stuff was competitively priced.

Image

One of Jerry's friends picked a nice loop. Hwy 68 up to Tellico Plains, Cherahola Skyway, Wayah Rd, and a couple of others. I've ridden it all before, and they don't ride quite as "spirited" as I do, but I was more than content to hold a higher gear and just enjoy the ride.

Image

Well - I've had my coffee. Time to pick a toy and go play. It's a tough job, really.....

Stay thirsty, my friends....

Not much I'd guess. This is an established brick and mortar store unlike some of the drug and gun stores you'll find in the dark alleys of the wrong side of cities like Atlanta. :D

They have billboards all over the region - I kind of thought it would be a tourist trap. But when I walked in, the two gentlemen were wearing pharmacists garb and both were open carrying. There were customers filling prescriptions. I perused the aisles and stood at the Gun counter just checking it out when one of them says "Be right wit ya, bud", to which I replied "Just browsing, thank you kindly".

As I walked in, I was greeted with this notice:

Obviously they are edumucated gents.... LOL

I'm guessing that everyone is VERY polite in there.

Today I installed a speedbleeder in the clutch slave, then I bled the rear brakes which were beaucoup mushy and the abs unit. Then I had a nap.

Returned from a mural hunting ride into Delaware and turned 60k miles on my way home. Changed oil, oil filter and final drive oils.

Got out for a few hours today. Was over near Zanesville and came around a shady corner to find two small deer in the road. I went right between them (and promptly shat myself). How I got out with both saddlebags will forever be a mystery to me. I'd like to take credit for some kind of avoidance maneuver but the truth is, I didn't even have time to touch the brakes. I guess it's better to be lucky than good.

Not 5 minutes later a big 'ol turkey vulture did his best to take me out as well. I almost threw in the towel and turned around for home.

Wow.

You are obviously a top rider to slalom between the two while playing with the vulture! Top rider for sure!

Took the FJR out for a ride today - first in a couple of weeks. I just got back from a trip (TransLab and Newfoundland) riding my BMW F700GS a total of 5000 km with lots of extra weight in luggage/camping gear.
I have come to appreciate that the BMW really handles quite well - 200 lb less weight is a help and steering geometry seems favorable, but at half the FJR's horsepower, it really is a bit of a slug (especially when overloaded). Quite a nice feeling to be tooling along in 5th on the FJR, whacking the throttle and having the bike actually respond. (to say nothing of doing the same in 3rd).
The F700GS is a fun little bike and I would take it places that I would not take the FJR, but it just doesn't provide the adrenaline rush.

Text book. Ride through them. Remember, you're on one of those deer slaying bullet proof Tank Gen 2's...

I managed to put a few miles on Saturday afternoon. Boring country road stuff. Some excitement found where asphault turns to gravel - those transitions happen quickly north of 100. ABS system is fully operational. Many bugs slaughtered. I do have a project for tech day. The bike used 5.7 gallons of fuel in less than 106 miles. I can't see any visable fuel leaks.

This one's for D-Eagle - #dirtybike
