Re: Trailering the FJR
I have to agree with you on that one. I loved that new style ball hitch that come on that new aluminum trailer but was surprised that it was only a 2" ball vs the normal 2 5/8" that was on my past enclosed trailer. The 2" ball held the hitch for awhile but let loose as I came to a stop.

Re: Trailering the FJR
Welp - this is far from ideal, but it will work:
The property owner was a bit concerned about it, but I assured her I'd put a tarp down to keep the tire marks off the deck. I got a second tarp that extends to the camera (where I'm standing), and down the ramp.
I have to back the bikes to the camera (where I'm standing), and then ride them down the ramp. If I try to back them down the ramp, the gravel is sloped toward the ramp and I cannot overcome that grade with my feet. I learned this the hardest way - literally I was stuck at the bottom and almost dropped the FJR.
Getting ready to go ride a motorcycle from here will take some effort. Good thing I have nothing but time.

Re: Trailering the FJR
I just strap two straps to the rear wheel. I just make sure the straps are not near the valve stem. Mostly it's to keep the bike from walking to one side. FJR doesn't move much but the Scout will if I don't strap the rear good.Hppants wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:08 am OK - that settles it - I'll wrap the rear tire and call it good enough.
On my test run, I noticed that the strap was pulling on the exhaust and the rear peg set and wasn't thrilled about it. This seems more prudent.
I want to thank everyone that helped me with this. It will be nice having both bikes with me this summer.

That's funny, especially since the thing the bike is sitting on works better when it's on top of the item, instead of underneath it

Re: Trailering the FJR
It is under very specific circumstances. For instance, when you can take it on a family vacation instead of leaving it at home and when you need to take more than one bike. Possibly to skip western Texas because you've already rode that armpit of a ride a zillion times and you can haul the FJR while riding in air conditioning. But you need to do it a zillion times first.
