I am glad that I don't have issues with short inseam (34"). I think I would be uncomfortable in this situation.
The downside is, of course, that no bike really has enough seat-to-pegs room. On my BMW F700GS, I am faced with lowering pegs a bit, or having the seat modified - perhaps both. Nice to be able to flat foot on both sides at a traffic light and get your weight off your butt to restore circulation.

I am! But I'm going to use the bugnatr approach next time. You know, bring friends to help you lift it.
Zactly, but I've lifted my S10 alone 2 times on the left and once on the right. Ufda!

I'm sold on the Dunlop, hoping to get north of 8K out of my first rear. At 5K now and looking real good.

Nice looking KTM!

I use tall seats with 29" inseam to lessen the angle my knees must bend. And on dirtbike to already be higher in order to stand easier. Spend a lot of time above the seat when off-road.

That's a great fly n buy! Your story is well written and documented. That is one tall beast for someone of your stature. I'd be very uncomfortable on a bike that tall knowing that I'd have to plan ahead for every stop.

The school of hard knocks, real world learning on the first day had to make you reconsider your decision to buy the KTM. I think you solved some issues of how to deal with the tall seat after the first day. I guess it's better to learn to respect the added height quickly than to ride off all cocky without that knowledge.

Congrats on your new addition to the fleet. I'm sure you'll have many happy, adventurous rides ahead and excellent stories to tell. Thanks for sharing your first adventure. I look forward to reading more of them.

I took my Dunlop off after 12,500 miles and there was still another 2-3,000 left on it but i wanted new tires to experience the flat and boring roads avoid Buzzards in SEO, which didn't work so well LOL

Just did up a search on the part number on my "Lower" seat and it's the ergo seat which looks to be 20mm higher than the stock seat. I'm definitely chasing down the custom seat route. Feeling better about this as I go along.

You just need the right platform sole boot...

I wonder if it is available in KTM orange?

Congrats on your new purchase. I've sat on one of those - with my 34" inseam, they indeed are very tall and I'm surprised you went that route. Hopefully you can make the adjustments needed to be more comfortable.

Those bikes are wicked fast. Can you tame it down with the CPU for the off road stuff that calls for it?

I apologize for the boot distraction, but a pair with thick soles could buy you 3/4". In addition to what you can get from the seat. Slip forks in triple tree or rear dogbones?

Put it in offroad mode and it limits it to 100hp max, but is quite docile and controllable on the throttle. Put it in sport mode and it'll tear your arms off. :D

As an aside Jasen, a while back I ran across information (on Tenere forum) for lowering the Adventure R. IIRC there's a suspension shop in Florida that lowers the beast ~2" to make it more approachable for us mortals. From what I read, it's a popular mod as folks like the better quality, fully adjustable suspenders on the R bikes.

If you're interested, I can hunt down the thread link.

I'd take a look at that. Lowering the suspension will defintely be last on my list though. I did indeed choose the R for the less complicated more easily adjustable suspension though. The non-R has similar to what the FJR gets with the menu driven suspension settings, which seems like it is giving some folks issues as the years and miles go by, and also limits how you are able to fine tune the suspension.
