Check yer sticky strings, usually OK if in unopened package, but best put them in a zip loc. Get new ones every couple or three years. Small reamer is good usually, big reamer optional but harder to put in.

Installed a new Conti Road Attack III on the rear.... time for a change from the uber expensive Michelin's. Hoping these Conti's will give me two seasons, no different than the PR 4.

I had a set of road attacks. They stick like glue, but have half the life of PRs, RS's or T series. They aren't cheap enough for the mileage.

It was yesterday, but I put a new Dunlop Roadsmart 3 on the rear. I got my youngest son to help and coached him through some of the tasks. Good bonding time and learning opportunities. When balancing the rear, I was prepared to add some weight but literally did not need to. I had one of those small binder paper clips. You know the ones that are black and silver that fold over. I use one of the small ones to clip the stick on weights to see where the light spot is to temporarily attach the weight.
The balancer kept spinning and became random no matter how much we tried. The clip is what always fell to the bottom after many many spins. I could not find out how much one weighs. I guess it is not much more than prob 5 grams. The tire/rim combo is really close to perfect. No weights needed.

I use old weights and shipping tape to find the balance. Then new weights to finish it off.

I saw this yesterday in my feed and watched it. He's lucky!
The video is a little long, but the short of it is he stopped behind the semi that was stopped at a stop sign; the truck driver decided he needed to back up to make the right hand turn to get into the truck stop. He did not see or hear the rider behind him and backed into / nearly over him. We can arm chair QB this one to death on who was right or wrong and why - but the take away for me is being aware and avoiding being directly behind a vehicle with significant blind spots at a stop.
The truck driver was in the wrong in my opinion, but it doesn't change the fact that Cruiseman's trip was over, and there is significant hassle in front of him. Could he avoided it? Potentially.
Many of us will be traveling and riding now through the summer. Be careful out there!

He did not see or hear the rider behind him and backed into / nearly over him. We can arm chair QB this one to death on who was right or wrong and why - but the take away for me is being aware and avoiding being directly behind a vehicle with significant blind spots at a stop.
The truck driver was in the wrong in my opinion, but it doesn't change the fact that Cruiseman's trip was over, and there is significant hassle in front of him. Could he avoided it? Potentially.
Many of us will be traveling and riding now through the summer. Be careful out there!

been there done that. Was leaving work at the mall and following the security vehicle. A pickup truck started backing out of his spot without looking causing the security vehicle to slam on his brakes quick. I ended up stopped short right behind him when he quickly started backing up to keep from getting hit by the truck. I was back peddling and on the horn letting the Fiaam Freeway Blaster go full tilt. Turns out he thought that was the truck honking at him and backed right into me. Front fender wedged under the bumper so I was able to get off the bike without needing the kickstand. A friend of mine did that with an FJR behind a RAM diesel. He stopped 3' off the bumper of vehicle in front, and still does. Same thing, the RAM decided to backup to change lanes at a traffic light.

Last year on the way to work I was behind a flatbed trailer turning right. It was still dark out. The truck decided to back up to let his co-worker truck in the wrong (go straight) lane move over to the right turn lane. I laid on the horn and did the back peddle slightly uphill the best I could and he finally looked and saw me. It was all in slow motion so I had time to abandon ship if needed, but all I could think about was "this is how my FJR ends??".
I know this is confusing to many of you. "Work" is something some of us still go to so we can afford to play on the weekends and potentially retire someday like everybody else on this forum.
