I installed a Helibar bridge on the 2013. The biggest PITA was reassembling the throttle cable assembly. The bike is almost road worthy. ImageImageImage

Rode it 335 miles and was home around 12:30. Was scheduled to ride the mountains with Viper Dad today. Plans changed last night and he wasn't available through no fault of his own. I debated, ride by myself or go to work. Left at 6 am this morning, it had just rained a little. Rode to the mountains, took the southern most route across the mountains, roads a little wet, a little rain for a few minutes. Hit a north/south road, headed north, skies were clear and blue. Came back across the mountain at the more northern road, 68 degrees and blue skies and white clouds. Outstanding day to ride. Was coming home as the Harley's were heading out :)

We've got California Superbike School coming up so just trying to get as much seat time as possible prior to going so I don't look like a complete idiot (is that avoidable?).

See if this works. You might have to up the quality. Don’t know why it’s square, it was filmed in 16:9

Nice 401 mile round trip down east in NC to Oak Island lighhouse. Off in the distance is Bald Head Island lighthouse, accessible only by boat.

I changed the oil in the 2013. I also changed the gear oil in the final drive and installed Shinko Ravens front and rear. The Dunlop Roadsmart 3's that were on there when I bought it were worn unevenly. These Shinkos will get me through the trip to Tennessee and Duane's Memorial Ride. After that, on to SEO. Before the ride to California, I'll install new Dunlop Roadsmart 3's and move the remaining miles left on the Shinkos to the 2008 AE. I'll be selling the AE eventually. I'll miss the paddle shifter for sure on the AE, but I think I'll be keeping the 2013 as my touring bike due to the cruise control.

The outer banks were a wonderful surprise for us last year. I really like the beach there, void of the condo crap.

Florida has a nice stretch of beach like that also from Melbourne Beach South to Sebastian Inlet.

Marie and I got to ride our bikes on the COTA track, after the MotoGP Sprint race.
Marie was filled with anxiety, and fell to the back of the pack quickly.
I thought I would just slow around the track, but as areas opened up, I found myself wicking it up some.
It was interesting to see the width of the track and some of the sharp turns.

Here we are waiting in line, just before going on track.

Pulled the Shinko Raven off AGAIN. It has been my emergency tire now for 3 years. I originally put it on for EOM CoVid 2020 with Bob. Then went to Arkansas for a little spin with PoolBoy, Boozer, and Nate. I pulled it off before Pants and I went to EOM last year. I put on a new set of PR5s. I got a puncture that would not hold air last year so I put the Raven back on. Pulled it off again today because I don’t think it will safely Last going down to Duane’s Memorial Ride. Rain is expected on my way home or I would chance it.

I put it on the shelf for an emergency tire, but wouldn’t run it more than 1,500 or local.

Btw, the FJR is such a fickle girl when it comes to tire pressure.

Somehow I let the pressure drop in the front to 28.5. The rear was 31.5. No wonder it felt terrible. I aired it up to 42 each and it was a new bike. What dummy rides around on those pressures? I thought I checked the pressure after I pulled it out for the season. Must have forgot. Too many bikes.

Cav47,

Right here I will add a free plug for a TPMS. The valve-cap versions are good. Just get a system that has replaceable batteries in the sensors.
Check your tire pressures at a glance, before departing any driveway. 8-)
All IMHO, of course.

Red,

You are so right!

I had the FOBO system but it stopped working and when trying to trouble shoot it, I swapped the batteries. Still not working. Need to get them back online.

Thanks for the kick in the pants.

There is no better food for the soul than a FJR at full song through a set of sweepers!

That camera manages to capture the engine / exhaust at speed - or was that done in post from another source??

Limited Time this weekend. I unpacked and confirmed tire pump is working, check tire plug strings, reamer, and string tool. Checked tool kit and stowed it. Packed rain gear. Staged riding gear.

Life hack.

Check the softness of your tire strings. They do get old and hard.

Even it they are still in the original slime packaging and never opened? Will they go bad still sealed?
