Michelin jacked the prices up on their tires substantially over the past 18-ish months. A set of PR4GTs used to cost about $325.00. Now - $415.00. Even with the rebate, they are still 40-ish percent more expensive than the RS3. Unless you luck out with the front NOT squaring off, you won't get any more miles out of the PR4. If you live in Seattle and will (likely) ride in the wet 8 out of 10 times, I can see it.

Otherwise and for now, I'll stick with the dunflops....

Dunno about the current Wing..... we used to lay them on a blanket on their side to get the rear wheel off, which avoided taking off a lot of rear plastic. A lift with a drop out rear panel would be nice.

What's the tire sizes on the new one? I have recommendations..... absolutely nothing Dunflop but Avon Cobras are nice. And then there's likely a selection of car tars unless the rear is a 17" now......

Dunlop currently has a rebate deal going on the Roadsmart IV, if you want to try them. More expensive than the RS III, but might be worthwhile with the rebate. Have to buy from a Dunlop Pro Dealer. I got a set last year but haven't installed them yet.

Pilot Road 4 GT's are $388 at Dennis Kirk. Less $60 rebate puts them at $328 before tax. Definitely have gone up, but I'll be putting in an order on March 1st anyway. I see people are complaining about them at their end of life. I never leave tires on long enough to see end of life. I change them when I have time, usually in the Winter. If that means I change them too soon and lose a few bucks....to me it's worth it to not worry about tires on a trip on my limited vacation time.

After 2 sets of Road 5 GT’s and a set of Road 6’s I put a set of Roadsmart IV’s on last fall and took advantage of the $60 rebate which was a credit/debit card. I have never been a fan of Dunlops coming from years on a Wing as the Elites had a reputation of being slippery in wet weather but my friend always got high milage out of his Dunlop tires. I have ridden countless miles with him in the rain on trips and he never had a problem so who knows. Perception is a powerful thing and not very good if it’s wrong.

The Michelin’s were good tires with deep tire tread patterns and grip but I never could get more than 7000 miles out of them. Honestly I was pretty disappointed as they also wore very unevenly even with an upgraded suspension. The Dunlops state and in bold print, the RS IV’s provide 49% better mileage than Road 5 GT and with the rebate I said I will give them a try. It’s only been 3k since putting them on but I am impressed at this point. The bike handles great and they look like they have not worn a single bit. Been in the rain and they are fine. Of course the jury is still out but so far so good and with the rebate I would certainly recommend them for anyone needing tires for the riding season.

I've been a happy Conti Road Attack III rider for quite a while but I've been drawn to try out the Road Smart IV's for the next go around. For many years I have held the same position as Ray and many others: that they are Dunslops. But I keep seeing good feedback on the IV's so I'll give them a try. The Dunlop rebate isn't that great since I have to buy them from a Pro Dealer. I have one nearby but after tax they are still about $4 more than just ordering online from americanmototire.com BUT I do get to keep the money local.

Dunflop Elites and Metzeler ME880's.... worst tires ever (on my Wing). Slightest bit of damp and you'd spin and slip, except when first new. Avoid at all costs.

Hmmm...just noticed that if I go through Cycle Gear in Memphis, even with sales tax, I still come out about $73 less than online (with the rebate, of course). I wonder if the local dealer would be willing to close the gap a bit....?

Now I just need a rebate from Bridgestone for the T32's for the ST's...

I've been a happy Conti Road Attack III rider for quite a while but I've been drawn to try out the Road Smart IV's for the next go around. For many years I have held the same position as Ray and many others: that they are Dunslops. But I keep seeing good feedback on the IV's so I'll give them a try. The Dunlop rebate isn't that great since I have to buy them from a Pro Dealer. I have one nearby but after tax they are still about $4 more than just ordering online from americanmototire.com BUT I do get to keep the money local.

I have run through a few sets of the RS III and liked them pretty well. Decent tire, good wear pattern and good tread life. Never really had an issue with performance in wet conditions although I never really pushed them. I was going to try the RS IV when it first came out. I felt the price was too high so I went with the Bridgestone T32GT which proved to be pretty good as well. I am looking forward to the RS IV when I'm done with the T32GT in a couple more thousand miles...

Cycle Gear is considered a Dunlop Pro Dealer, so hopefully a you are near a Cycle Gear.

Given the price of Michelin's I think I am going to try to Dunlop 4's. I don't mind trying something different and I yet to find the perfect tire.

Ordered Pilot Road 4 GT's front and back. Current tires have about 4500 miles on them but still look really good. I'll see how they look after SEO, but now will be ready when the time comes. I know some people love them or hate them, but I went from Road 2's to Road 4's and have always felt very confident in the rain on both. Been happy with the mileage too.

At Christmas Festus let us all know about the Revzilla 20% off gift card and price matching. So my $500 gift card cost me $400. Revzilla matched Dennis Kirk (lowest price I could find online). Bottom line after gift card discount, price match, and rebate, two new Road 4 GT tires cost me $252.

Not cheap....frugal.
