What did you do to your FJR today?

Nice day yesterday - severe clear and about 70 degrees. So a buddy and I zoom zoom'd around the back roads for about 150 miles. We may or may not have seen triple digits along the levee road.

Nice day today here in the northeast so I dropped the triple tree 24mm and went for a ride. the bike seems to fall into the corners now.

Check your tire pressures. Front tire may be low, or maybe just low for the new set-up. You might try adding a few PSI there and see how that goes in the corners.

When I said the bike fell into the corners, I meant it was almost falling in the corners.(slow speed) I was having to correct the fall.
And there is a noticeable different feel going from a left lean over center to a right lean. More riding is needed to learn this bike. I will play with the tire pressure. thanks for the tip.

When I had Michelins (they came with the bike), I could always tell if the front tire was low (the bike fell into turns), or too high (the bike stood up in turns). In the middle of those two limits, though, the bike was golden, doing exactly what I expected. Then the bike would steer almost by thought control.

Now I run on Pirelli Angel GTs, so tire pressures are not so critical now, but lately I do have a TPMS, and I can easily check the tire pressures at a glance, before leaving any driveway.
I hate surprises out on the road.

Raising the forks 24mm is very significant..... suggest another experiment with 15mm.

I going to play with tire pressure and see what happens. I too just got a TPMS and waiting for warmer weather for testing. Tire pressure is good.

Mounted and installed new tires. I'd hoped the current pair would last a little longer until the weather got warmer so they'd be a little easier to change but it wasn't meant to be. Did about 175 miles yesterday looking for murals and noticed on my way home the front just didn't feel right so I took a closer look before pulling into the garage.



Guess 12,797 miles was enough.

Wish it had been a little warmer today to heat th4e new tires up some. Rear one fought me a little but got them done. Michelin PR4GT s again. Rear tire actually still has a few miles in it but I changed both.

I definitely took this tire further than I normally would. Been keeping an eye on it for about the last 1000 miles or so. I will say this, once it hit the wear bars it wore down FAST.
When I used to run PR2s I got close to that kind of mileage riding solo.

Welcome back!

Pulled the bike out of mothballs. Stopped riding several years back due to work/life imbalance. Now a new job is allowing me to get some of my life back.

So, replaced the rear master brake cyl since it failed from sitting, flushed all the fluids, slapped a new battery in and brought her back to life. New tires will be next before any real seat time, though I took a short and easy test ride to make sure everything was in working order. Will be nice to be back on 2 again.

Yesterday was a beautiful 50 degree sunny February day in northeast Ohio, so I had to take the bike out for my usual Sunday loop, down through Amish country...

I spent some quality time Sunday in the garage. Air filter replaced. Front forks removed, disassembled and drained. Fork components cleaned and ready for assembly. Brake pad inspection revealed that it's time to replace. Are there miles left in them - Yes. Do I want to ruin a group ride day with having to tip-toe somewhere to find brake pads - No. New set ordered.

Of course the weather here Sunday was a perfect false spring day with temps near 50 - WTF?? Mother Nature is a sneaky little brat...

Not a question of being too cold but a question of whether it is even possible! (You CAN always ride when it is "too hot", although you might not like it.) This is the current state of my driveway.

I have done some snow, although not 4" depth. A bit butt-puckering for sure. While snow is bad, the neighborhood streets are covered with an inch or so of ice and very uneven - pretty sure I couldn't keep the bike upright, even at a crawl. Main streets are clear but I am not especially inclined to subject the FJR to the extreme concentrations of salt the municipality uses to keep things clear. Heated gear will keep me alive (if not entirely comfortable) down to temperatures significantly below freezing. However, short of using a snowmobile helmet, it is pretty difficult to keep the face shield from fogging...
