Regarding the recalls.... I believe there were 4 listed at one time.

Transmission (second gear)
Software upgrade (reflashed the ECU as part of the trans recall)
Second software upgrade (to fix the first reflash)
Brake light switch (many Yamaha models affected).

You can call your dealer to run the VIN and check.....
There is also a website, however I'd check with the dealer anyway.

If the transmission recall has not been done, do NOT dismay. The dealer will do it for free, and we have been through many (MANY) trans. recall owners on this forum that have had the work done with GREAT success. It's a huge job (motor torn down to the very last bolt), but after done, you should be good for 200,000 miles or more.

Congrats.

I checked the website and is says none of the recalls have been done. :( Will contact my local dealer to setup a date. Didn't realize the recall was so involved.

The recall involves replacing the entire transmission cassette (of gears).... which means engine removal, splitting the lower engine case off (not a total engine disassembly), middle gear removal, etc., replace cassette with new version, reassemble, reinstall engine. Dealers got paid 14 hrs. labour.
Verify with the dealer the job was done or not rather than totally rely on the website.

I was a bit exaggerated. It's not a TOTAL disassembly, but the cases have to be split. It's a big job but again, Yamaha apparently has good support for this because we've seen tremendous success. I've not heard of ONE recall done in which the motor had to be taken down, or anything internal. I am aware of a couple in which a hose clamp had to be tightened or the like.

However, do NOT delay in getting this done. The last thing you want is for the transmission to grenade the bike and then having to get into a pissing match with Yamaha. You can't pretend you don't know what you know. Schedule it now. Lead time for parts is likely going to be months, not weeks, just FYI.

I checked with a dealership today and the bike has all the recalls done. Now to pull the ECU and sent it to Ivan. :D

You just bought it and haven’t really explored its abilities, but are immediately throwing money at it to change per internet postings?

One way to tell if Yamaha recalls have been performed is whether there is a rev limiter in 1st and 2nd.

Aren't dealers suppose to make sure all recalls are done before they sell a bike?

I agree, but the Distributor I bought it from wasn't a Yamaha dealer and said they would have to charge it as maintenance. Mote point since the recalls have all been accomplished

One way to tell if Yamaha recalls have been performed is whether there is a rev limiter in 1st and 2nd.
It came with T-REX Engine Guard, Touring Comfort Seat, oversized V-Stream windscreen, battery tender, heat troll line and 2 ram balls. I am swapping over my RDL, GIVI 375 bracket and K&N Air filter. Not much else to play with.

I rode a 2008 with the Ivan tune a few years ago and was VERY impressed. Also future plans are to trailer a small camper so I want to open up the lower torque.
