Yes, both are. Probably bent forward about 10 degrees..... you can see the bend just above the upper mounting bolt. The TPMS bracket is 0.030" stainless which is fairly stiff, the GPS bracket is more like 0.060" steel and is stronger. I can make you a sketch if you like.

Gonna change the oil today - at 4,400 miles, a bit overdue.

Sunny, high 60s tomorrow. Football can wait.....

UK has always had 6,000 mile intervals, filter change every other one. But maybe that's because we don't accumulate the total miles you do.

I usually plan to go between 5,000 and 6,000 miles between changes - depending on how and where I am riding. If I am on a major trip somewhere, I don't sweat going 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or even further. I figure that 7,500 miles of long distance (500+ miles per day) is much easier on the oil than 4,000 miles of short hops or stop-and-go riding where the engine oil may not even make it to full operating temperature. I almost always use synthetic oil.

Ah yes, the old Yamaha revenue generator syndrome...... other makes mostly have oil change intervals of 12k kms/7-8000 miles with filter every other time, e.g., Honda ST1100 and 1300 is 12.8k or 8000 miles. The oil ain't dirty at 4000 miles.... but pick a number.

This is true - the oil isn't that dirty. Still has the consistency of honey. Shifting isn't affected.

Just following the book, but I get it.

@ Boston.....
Correction, GPS bracket is 1/8" steel, bend forward is ~25 degrees but you can bend to suit. Made a sketch.... dimensions are as if flat before you bend it. Perhaps make one from cereal box cardboard first and see what you might want to change.......

I pick 5000. Just easy to remember and the oil doesn't look that bad.

I purchased the YES on this new bike. So I guess I will go by the book.

This. All my vehicles get either synth or semi-synth and I change them at the 5K's. Makes it easy. Did the truck today with semi-synth even though the truck said I was only at 52%, good to keep clean oil for the turbos and it's cheap insurance.

Also today I rode the FJR, right through the ass of Dallas, headed to a dealership on the other side of town to go kick some tires.

I have a little notebook on a small clipboard for logging bike maintenance, tire changes, etc...... oil changes can be variable depending on what trip I'm going on next.

Manage a touch over 110 miles today. Temps from 35-42 degrees but bright sunshine and clear roads. Working on collecting murals again. Few highlights.

Columbia, PA is home to what may be the only Clock and Watch Museum in the country.

One small segment of the River Trail Mural in Columbia.

This last one is someone's off road parking spot in an alley.

On the garage wall of 2 dudes painting, they had 3 of those old VW vans painted in orange and white like the mural. There were a couple more VW vans that looked like they're awaiting restoration.

I guess I'm just lucky I live in such a target rich environment.

Well the silver Corbin smuggler is just going to have to work for day rides for awhile. No telling when the side bags will be in.

235 miles today with two buddies (versus 1000 and an RT).

Street tacos for lunch were legit.

41 mpg - I was feeling it. The ole red girl will get up and go when pushed.

I did play with a few pirates this afternoon. I got to the front man, running by far the loudest pipes. He downshifted in front of me just so I could enjoy his fart machine. I pulled left to pass him and it was neck and neck for a bit.

Then I shifted to third.

(Bad Pants).

Stay thirsty, my friends….

Sun shining, dry and in the 50s. Went for a short day ride this morning.
One more day ride and it will be time for the 600 mile service.

I am ashamed at how long it has taken me to put 600 miles on a brand new FJR.

In my defense I did ride the MT09 a few times.
