Sena mesh com system for Shoei helmets
Has anyone tried the new sena mesh com system for the neotec 2 helmet? It's a little bit pricey but it integrates really nicely with the shoei helmet. I'm thinking of getting one to replace my old 20s.

The only thing I don't like about it is you can't charge and use it at the same time.

Re: Sena mesh com system for Shoei helmets
I just installed one into my Neotec 2. Pricey, yes, but it is the same price as the 50S anyway.
I only have about 100 miles on it. The install was a piece of cake. I like that there isn't something hanging off the side of the helmet. It's less exposed to the elements. I have been known to ride in some rain. I have the original 50S still installed on my HJC. The sound of the Harmon Kardon seems to be better, but the Shoei is much quieter than my HJC so no idea if that's any benefit.
The buttons are a little more difficult to navigate than the jog wheel, but that's only because I haven't gotten used to them. The buttons are also further forward than where I had my 50S mounted. It'll just take some getting used to.
With it being built into the helmet, it's a little more challenging to charge. There is no fast charging on it and I can't figure out why Sena didn't put that feature in. So the headset takes 2.5 hours to charge instead of 1 hour for the 50S. I'm guessing that's the reason you can't use it while charging. The lack of fast charging is probably the biggest disappointment that I hadn't realized before buying it. But we usually plug the headsets in at lunch so I don't know that we'll have any issues

I have the 10u which goes in the Neotec 1st gen helmet. Had it for a few years. It is a love hate kind of thing. Just like all the Senas. The worse thing right now is one of the speakers do not work . After contacting Sena which was no help.... there is no simple fix/ no replacement. I do like how it is not on the outside of the helmet. I also use the remote on the handlebars.

I loved my SRL’s (non mesh), but not being able to charge in-flight made me switch to a 50S.
If they fixed the charging problem, I’d go back to an SRL.
FWIW- when in mesh mode, the 50s burns battery like the FJR burns gas at FJR nominal speeds.

I also have the 10U in my Neotec. Great system! My battery quit holding a charge and I took it to a local electronics shop. They ordered a battery from somewhere overseas (China I'm sure) and it's back to working pretty well. It still doesn't stay charged long enough but I'll take it. I'll get a Neotec 2 and a new system when it's time for a new helmet.huron52 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 6:41 am I have the 10u which goes in the Neotec 1st gen helmet. Had it for a few years. Re: Sena mesh com system for Shoei helmets
Novice question...
Does the sena pair up/communicate with other comm systems or in one limited to comms with other senas only?

In theory they are all supposed to work together to some degree. That's what their marketing all says. However, real world, the newer it is, the less that seems to be true. Cardo loves Cardo, Sena loves Sena. Well, maybe not loves, but likes

Someone else with more experience can comment.... the two different mesh systems are different and the connection is not by mesh, but by being paired as a phone via bluetooth.... I'd say one of you needs to change brands.

Re: Sena mesh com system for Shoei helmets
I have successfully integrated one Sena unit into a Cardo mesh but the range (less then 50 yards) of the connection between the Sena unit and the "bridge" to the Cardo mesh network (Me) was a PITA. If the Senas unit got more than 50 yards from me then the connection dropped and usually required a stop to reintegrate the Sena. While the Sena was integrated, we, the Cardo users heard every Snap, crackle, and Pop we all left the Sena community to avoid.
My recommendation - buy what your riding buddies are already using. If you "all" are thinking about making a change, I recommend the Cardo Packtalk Edge - Waterproof not Water Resistant, 10-12 hours of Mesh life with everyone talking, easy APP to get folks paired up (Can you hear me now circle jerks pretty much eliminated), clear voices, no annoying snaps, crackles, or pops. Alex at Black Hills Moto can get you a deal on a group buy.
