Rode it to vote. Not sure if it’s our site or Dropbox that’s hosing up the photo.

Me too. Then I rode another leisurely 45 minutes or so for some sushi. Then home.

It's dropbox, I can't even open that in a browser window by itself, it just downloads.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 8:02 pm Rode it to vote. Not sure if it’s our site or Dropbox that’s hosing up the photo.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Actually yesterday but I decided to put her into her winter storage. A little premature but I haven't been riding as much and looks like the weather is going get lousy so got in a little last ride, about an hour and a half, put in my seafoam, topped off the tank, rode to my brother in law's garage, plugged in the tender and put on the cover. Every year I regret not having a garage of my own so I could get in a ride on those occasionally nice winter days but he's far enough away that it just doesn't seem to work out for me to run over and take the bike out. Can't wait for Spring.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Went for the the last ride of the year yesterday...rear tire (10,000 miles) and weather are done I think! Decided to stop in at my local Yamaha Dealer (DeWildt) on the way home to see what's new. He had three Tracer GT's sitting on the floor, a grey and a red 2022, and a red 2023. Since I've never really been up close to these bikes and I was in my riding gear I decided to sit on the 2023...first impression FABULOUS! Loved the instrument panel and the bigger seat and bigger windscreen. Everything about this bike appealed to me except maybe the ES and the redesign of the sidecases. And I could flatfoot it which surprised me given I'm 5'11' and I've heard others complain about the seat height and needing to lower it. If it wasn't for the price ($22500 Cdn OTD) I could have been seriously tempted. Me thinks I'll start looking hard for a used 2019-20 (something newer without the ES)...my winter project! Max the dealer would give me on trade in for my 2008 FJR was $6,000

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
re-arranged the garage yesterday, and put the bike in its hibernation spot for the time being, so that I could get both cars parked inside (it's a tight fit with both cars, the bike, beer fridge, lawn mower, snow blower, grill, smoker, tool cabinet, and two 96 gallon garbage cans). I did ride it to fill the tank, before parking it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Interesting you found a 2023, they are not even on the Canadian or US website yet... anyway, FYI, the 9 has a lower seat height than the 900. The new screen apparently is a single screen rather than the double screen of previous 9, the 900's had yet a different screen..... anyway, diving right into the 19-20 900's, and that would be the one I'd get. No ES for me either. I'm not rich enough to pay what they're asking for the new ones, jeez. As I understand it, they're selling all they can get, and that's keeping the price of the previous ones up there too.... used ones going for ~C12k if you keep your ears to the ground.ice station zebra wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 11:08 am Went for the the last ride of the year yesterday...rear tire (10,000 miles) and weather are done I think! I'm planning a short ride tomorrow, but after that it's gonna be hit and miss.

I know of a 2013 (pre - ES) for a ridiculous price from a motivated seller, close to you as well.ice station zebra wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 11:08 am Me thinks I'll start looking hard for a used 2019-20 (something newer without the ES)...my winter project! Sunshine and upper 70s today. Took the FJR to my early Eye Doctor's appt, then took the long way home. Like 225 miles. Excellent ride with desolate roads all to myself.

Gave the rear tire an eyeball thread depth check. Yep, should be good for one more all day ride...coming up soon if weather holds out.

Rode it to the office in a monsoon. Got a steeply discounted open-box helibridge in.
Undecided on whether I will install it, or whether I could even do the install without messing something up.

That is the advantage of mounting one's own tires. That one can use the tire to the last minute and mount new on Sunday night if need be.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 8:00 pm Gave the rear tire an eyeball thread depth check. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Spent the morning installing a helibridge. Was not fun, but it wasn’t that difficult.
Clutch and front brake engagement are different. Throttle was not affected.
Mucho sketchy low speed handling. I did not experience this (clutch/brake change, poor low speed handling) with previous iterations.
Does feel nice at speed, though. I’ll give them a week and see if I can figure out the problem or get used to the low speed difference.
Going back out to the garage to install my old storm handguards while enjoying an wee dram of scotch.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I didn't have to futz with the clutch at all for my installation, no effect/affect. The extension didn't affect my front brake. I "back bled" by spreading pistons in the brake calipers to push air up into the brake reservoir. Then added fluid to make up for the longer line.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I re-bled my front extension. Rocking the bars left and right (while feathering the lever). That produced the bubbles I had missed.
I think I may have somehow changed the lever setting on the clutch, while I had the bars off.
I remounted the gps, and installed my trusty barkbuster storm handguards. I was just telling natehawk- my body remembers this position, and this setup. I may have to ride somewhere. Somewhere not near.
I’m happily sitting by the fire while the wife sings a Billy Joel song to the grand baby. But cold winds and asphalt whisper from just outside my door. Soon.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
It may not be soon, but the Saturday after Thanksgiving, if the air is cold enough, the coffee is warm enough, the roads are clean and twisty enough, the cold asphalt will be warmed by the tire friction speeding past as I get one solid day out of this rear tire.
