TPMS

Post by Leprechaun »

Hi. Anyone tried the Tyre Watch system? Are the batteries user-replaceable? I have the Orange Electronics system installed,
but the front sensor stopped working and it seems impossible to get a replacement.
Thanks.

Battery is not replaceable. You need a new sensor unit.

I got a replacement for mine on eBay, but I may have gotten the last one in the world. While I was looking for a replacement, I ran across several Utube tutorials showing how to replace the battery manually. Not easy, but it works, so if you can't find a replacement, start googling.

I bought aTPMS on ebay (China or Hong Kong, I think), which is identical to this Hawk's Head http://www.tpms.ca/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The sensor batteries are indeed replaceable, O-ring sealed. Looks pretty decent to me. The remote display does not appear to be waterproof, nothing a baggie couldn't fix if it rains.
It's going on the WeeStrom whenever all this ice melts.......... I'm going to use the T-shaped valve stems from Hawk's Head.....

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can sure muffle the sound.

I've been looking to add a TPMS system but I already have 90-degree stems. Does the Hawk's Head system have clearance of the calipers if used on 90-degree stems?

The Orange product is a POS! Sensors didn't even last a year. One not even 6 months. No wonder they went out of business.

Shuey reported that he had the Ariete style 90 deg. stems, and had clearance (albeit not a lot extra) with the Doran sensors. Doran's are larger diameter than the one I posted up, so..... I'll guess they're good to go. I have Doran on the Feej, and use their sensor inside the front wheel with their 90 degree stem (too tall) angled in so it won't hit the caliper. I am going to try out the Hawk's Head Tee stems hoping I can mount the sensor outside and in the center of the wheel, hoping of course to avoid the calipers....... changing tires here in a couple of weeks. Fedex guy brought me some new shoes today.

So is the eBay seller from China still selling these things? Seems like the only ones I saw were the Hawk's Head units.
