What did you do to your FJR today?

EOM is just over 4 weeks away...

She lets me go. Work is another story. Apparently, they only let me get away so much each year and this year is all accounted for.

Rode with the boy. We don't have as many chances to ride together as we would like. Just a few hours this morning. Chatting on the comms about stuff. Teaching him 178/215. Riding the cool hours on an empty BRP. Talking about our friend - who he met when he rode a certain "Lucky" 13 to me.

Looks like a weekend VERY well spent.

The weather for this weekend coming is looking pretty darn good. Good enough to spend a couple nights at Grayson Highlands or in Wytheville

Chris took his class this weekend. Got his M/C endorsement added to his license this morning, as soon as the DMV opened. He orderd farkles this afternoon. Shop time and local riding most likely for this weekend.

Either way, something to look forward to and to make the work week go so sloooooooow.

As much fun as an overnight FJR trip sounds, I'm gonna hang close this weekend. Yes, it definitely was an awesome two days of FJR stuff. In midsummer even.

Good news on Chris getting legal with that VFR. Now it won't be so awkward for him to ride it over to you so you can "teach" him how to ride it!

A few days late to report, but rode it on a nice 450 mile loop into WV and back. Ran over to Cass and Snowshoe, to Marlington for lunch.

Forecast for almost 100 degrees at home, dropped to a cool 69 degrees in the mountains. Riding was spectacular. Not sure where everyone was, but we had a great day of riding.

Then a quick shower, riding in the rain for a 1/2 hour or so, and back to sunshine. Rain gear taken this time Great day of riding.

That first photo is definitely calendar material.

Not to the bike so much, but for me. I rode in some real gullywashers 2 weeks ago and thought to myself, "self, my raingear can do better than this!" So today was a Nikwax cleaner and refurbishment for it. I'm sure I'll get to try it out again soon.

Actually yesterday but I took it for the annual inspection sticker (a NY requirement) used to always have it done at shop owned by a guy I knew since high school but he recently passed away and now the shop is closed. Went to another place I knew about, they were out of stickers but recommended a place I never knew did the inspections. Got my sticker and explored some local roads. Experimented with rear shock set on hard. Did about 75 miles. Seemed to handle a little better but ride a little more harsh. Anyone experience this??

To my former Root Beer FJR..... rebuilt forks with new seals and bushings...... seal leak from our recent trip. Tried out my newly constructed fork press (will describe later)... cleaned gear indicator switch, was intermittently not displaying 3rd gear.... nothing obvious, just cleaned out the accumulated engine oil and buffed up the contacts. Engine oil change and filter. Replaced right headlight LED, one LED burned out on low beam after about 2 years....
Dean brought lunch, a nice tortiere from a bakery, and fresh peach blueberry pie. Also left me a fresh Ontario wild blueberry pie, will sample later.

Enjoy that blueberry pie. It's a bad year for wild berries. $60 for 3 liters! Hard pass.

Just finished sampling the pie.... IMHO inadequate quantity of blueberries..... last year I think I paid nearly $75 for a 4-quart basket... not cheap. If you want reasonably priced, used to get frozen ones at Fortino's/Loblaws for $6 that worked out a lot cheaper and if you don't need that many.

Rode it about 320 miles. A little curvy roads but mostly just scenic rolling hills.

Vivid 70's memory of older kids smearing strawberry on Sheryl Ann's braless white oxford shirt at the berry patch. (Not like I'm the only sick one here !)

Oh yeah, those are expensive blueberrys.

RS IIIs that came off had 8500 hard miles. Front & rear just into wear bars but otherwise kept their profile and still felt decent. Rear was a royal BITCH to get off!

I do like the way the RS3 wears evenly all the way down to the cord. I can't no-mar them on without help.

Take-offs were "GT" version and I didn't have special tool (Panman) around for this tire change. Had to use the Mojo lever on rear!

It went to a good cause! Always planned to try and run out these PR4s. Gotta clean out under the house!

'pants, you need a special tool...see above! Going on isn't too bad, it's getting the spent tire off the rim. I've found rear RS IIIs are the worst, with 'stone rears a close second...but manageable.
