Looks like you guys just made it!
The Alcan washed out in a very serious way at the laird river crossing south of Watson lake. Likely to be closed for a long time. The only alternate for is the Cassier.

Spousal Unit and I are in Nakusp for the Bee Cee Beemers Hotsprings Rally. We couldn’t stay with Skooter and John when they went to CFR. This is our fourth time at this rally and Nakusp never disappoints. The people of Nakusp are effusive in expressing their happiness at the Beemers being back. They report that the riders in the last motorcycle group, that was here in late June, were believed to be responsible for a disturbing incidence of missing sheep.

I'd advise stopping in Kaslo, at Theresa's on Front Street for a coffee, and perhaps a slice of her blueberry pie (best blueberry pie on the planet, IMHO). If she offers her homemade huckleberry ice cream to go with it, bonus. Dammit she was closed when I was there a few weeks ago...
