Rode to the mountains.
In 1/2 a day!!!
Rode some good roads. Sitting on a porch swing in 68f weather.
Grabbed a cheap mom and pop hotel. This place was probably a gem a few years ago. A little rough around the edges now. Mom and Pop look to be getting old and the place is getting away from them a bit. But the rooms are clean.

No meth heads spotted. In fact we might be the only ones here. I think the bars are just to keep the guests from touching his Packards. He has two. Strange they are on battery tenders but the tires are rotted and a inch of dust on them.
Image

Good riding minutes away.

Probably hit Little Switzerland 226 and 226a on the scenic route home in the morning.

Gas pumps only have cents, no dollars.

This is the retirement I was looking for. I am tired of hauling boxes around and down sizing.

Edit:
Can someone tell me what this is? It's the decoration on front of our room.

I'm guessing that implement has something to do with planting seeds... just a wild guess though.

Awesome day for you... I get my chance on Saturday.

Changed tires. Good timing to because I found the rear tire flat. How's that for timing? Odd thing is I didn't find the reason the tire was flat. I mounted the new tire, put air in it then checked for leaks while the tire was in the sink. The valve stem and valve were not leaking. Very strange.

Getting ready for CFR. Whoo hooo!

Changed the rear drive oil today. But before doing that I had to ride it. Oh darn tough duty being retired. Along the way I took a few photos. Here are the best of the bunch.

The FJR by a field of canola.

Image

The FJR by a wheat field with a deep green color.

Image

The FJR is running smoother since changing out all the intake shims and getting them in nominal tolerance about .0075 to .008 inches. Nice!

Nice pics, Jim. Did you sync the throttle bodies after adjusting the valves?

Rode the FJR on some awesome roads this morning. Weather was cool in the mountains. Hit some usuals BRP, 226,226a and some small out of the way "share" roads. Just maybe 1.5 lanes wide. Problem is the locals don't share. Most cars are a full two feet in our lane. Some get over, some dont.
You better take a hard inside line on blind right handers!
Got hot when we came down to close to sea level. Had a leisurely lunch with lot of sweet tea.

Back home by early afternoon. We are not in Kansas anymore Dorthy. Well in our case Florida.

Still think good rides are going to be hit interstates for a couple hours to clear Charlotte. Then have a fun afternoon. Find a cheap hotel. Have an amazing morning. Then head home early afternoon.

Long days aren't really Tina's thing. The girl might be slow in the curves, but is is hell on wheels on an interstate. So we get home in a hurry.

Thanks Pants. I had the idea last year of putting the Black FJR in front of a canola field but it was too late in the canola season. It is a good idea but hard to get the shot. Placing the bike along side the road is dicey at best, the shoulders soft and lighting not ideal. In one case I found a stick yesterday and put it under the side stand to get a better profile shot of the bike. Just fooling around. You will have time to fool around shortly!

Yes I synced the carbs with a Morgan Carbtune. Got it as close as I could - the read out was bouncing around 3-5 cm/Hg evenly across all cylinders. The vacuum tolerance is 1 cm/Hg so it is kinda hard to know since each graduation on the Carbtune is 1 cm. Some of my adjustment screws are completely turned in clockwise, no room for adjustment, but I achieved the bouncy 3-5 cm/Hg balance without the need to turn any screw beyond seated. I am not sure what I'd do if I had to turn the screw beyond the fully seated position.

Here is the photo of the FJR's side stand on the stick. There is too much gravel in the photo, the front tire is turned and I am in the saddlebag reflection and lastly the rule of thirds is violated - just too much bike. :|

So how many miles is that? 450?, 550? If so, that's doable! Remember, long daylight!

Follow-up, the second plug in the Angel GT developed a slow leak, TPMS making noises first thing before we left Randle. It was in a bad area in the center where there is no tread (smooth). Installed fresh plug and then played Ranier/Chinook, then carried on to Metro Seattle where some awesome guy named ~G offered up a new tar. We promptly (with his toolz and help) relieved him of said tar, then went out for a nice Mexican dinner.
Forking seal has remained dry.
Dean has renewed confidence in the FJR... played nice all across the Cascades Highway today.... Nakusp tomorrow.

T-plug installed from the inside is a very reliable repair. Usually a plug from the outside is Good Enough.

Basecamp says the whole route is 408 miles 11:37. Shortcut back from SV makes breakfast to Cowpens Battlefield 348/10:23.
