That last pic above shows the rash on the nose panel... just a new challenge. Gray shade is slightly different and I actually can't tell if it is unique yet, but it is really close to the fuel tank colour..... here's a pic of the rash and there are two small cracks right above. A new one is ~C$500, so I can afford to play with this a bit, and I have a shade of gray that might be close enough... nothing to lose really.....

Again, I have other stuff to do, hang in until next time.

As I was going about my business today, the thought crept into my mind about the slightly mismatched side panels.... why not paint the right side too and both would be the same.... have to remove the Yammy logo anyway.... maybe ~G would approve

~G, I knew you wouldn't be happy unless I did the job properly, me either, so over the last coupla days been multitasking.... I have all the nose and side panels off now and been busy prepping.... so I did paint the right side to match the left, removed the Yammy tuning fork and corrected the orientation. More betterer now.

Image

In the pic posted earlier, the nose piece was cracked in 3 places and had rash, so repaired those with plastic epoxy on the back side, then dremmeled a groove to fill/bond the top side, then filed/sanded, had to use a touch of glaze.... final sand with 600 wet. This is almost ready for paint, but will wet sand the whole thing first.

Image

Meanwhile, bikey got its tank trim back on, but is still naked.......

Image

The nose piece is lookin' real good now, came out perfectly. The paint will dry to a slightly duller gloss to match the gloss of the rest of the bike's paint. This is not matte paint, more of a satin finish. I was really lucky to find this paint.

Although the paint dries quickly, gonna give it an overnight before assembly. I may not have time tomorrow, but I gotta get the for sale sign on this little gem.

Well it doesn't take too long to get the trim back on, then installed a new Kappa (Givi) touring windshield. Installed some new tank pads to spiff it up a bit, gave it a once-over with Honda spray polish. Looking good, so put it up for sale ..... to date, three bites, two said they'd come but haven't.... I'll pull the ad down tomorrow as I'm going on my western adventure and won't be back until July.........

I wish there was a way to move the rider footpegs forward about 2", then I'd keep this bike. Wonderful drive drain. But, too much re-engineering of shifter mechanism and brake pedal stuff......

They make what they call rearsets for sport or race bikes, where they move the pegs back and up.... I need the opposite... could I install those backwards, lol? Nope. The main issue is the shifter rod goes up in a narrow channel inside the frame, and the countersprocket is in front of that, so no room to make a shift linkage work (without a lot of hard engineering thinking).... left side pic doesn't show it so well. Meanwhile, selling the bike gets me a nice little profit.
