Installed a new front tyre, and mostly packed. Tomorrow, son and I ride to brother's for overnight, the next day we meet up with a group and board the ferry to Spain.

Away from home for a total of 14 nights. (I cheat, have top-box and side cases mounted.)

Today I went back to my bike as my primary source of transportation. And it stormed on the way into work thus morning.
I'll be using the FJR for thus task for the next month or so while I get my old faithful ZRX spun back up to commuter status.

Finally got it dug out of the shed so that a potential buyer could see it. Good guy whose done a lot of research on FJR's. LD guy with an xc. After the first 15 minutes going over the bike, we swapped stories for 90 minutes.

I hope he buys it. It'll be a good home.

I made a reference to that song at Tech Day a few weeks ago - some folks had no idea what I was talking aboot so we had to listen to it.

I had planned on loitering in NGA today, but I looked at rear tire last night and decided that it needed changing first before going anywhere.

I know what you're thinking, he's got at least a 1000 miles left on that BStone...and I would tend to agree. But I hear jwilly in my ear saying, "Don't be a dumbass!, I won't be there to take care of you next time." So I'm changing tires this weekend instead of riding.

Flag...because of all who died in our military to keep us safe from enemies in this world...and simply because their country asked it of them.

Nope, that is not what I am thinking. Am thinking, "How did the center wear out first?" And then started thinking it looks as if the right side (top in the picture) wore faster than the left. I wear the left side bald. Center is close behind. My right seems to have half tread remaining when I am forced to mount new tire. And I don't even ride the North Georgia mountains, I ride mostly midsouth TN.

Oh, cut that T31 once you have it off. There is a lot of rubber between a bald T31 and its cords.

You mean like this?
I think it was a BT023 pulling a trailer from south central British Columbia to New Brunswick. Wicked crosswind all across the prairies ate the rear tire. Front was still decent when I go home.
Ride was essentially 100% slab. (Fly and ride to pick my new-to-me 2011 three years ago.)

^ That’s what mine looked like on the way to Key West, while in S. Fl., with Vic and Steve. On the way back, about 360 miles, Steve and I got pulled over.

Image

The nice police officer then explained the safety issues I might incur on the way home. After 20 minutes of me saying “Yes Sir” to his every statement, he became bored with us and let us continue.
I babied it another 150 miles from that point, and made it home safely. None too soon, as you can see.

^^ Wow, that is worse than mine was and the edges are even less worn than on my rear tire. Didn't think you could find roads flatter and less curvy than those on the highway between Alberta and Manitoba! On the right (twisty) road, that tire has another couple thousand miles.
