Greetings.
My 2014 has the suspension light on and the display shows "44".
It has sat for a while (I know, I deserve it because I haven't paid enough attention to her). The battery was dead and when I charged it and started it, the light is on.
I bought the manual, unfortunately I flubbed and got the 2016-2018 manual.
I have heard there's a way to get in the diags by using the TCS and Reset buttons while turning on the key. I can get there, then select SCU and push both again and see the codes.
However, I can't seem to reset them and try to see if the error comes back.
The manual says to use the Yamaha diagnostic tool. I imagine that is prohibitively expensive.
Any help on resetting the codes with the buttons?
Any other suggestions?

That's exactly how mine is acting.FJRoss wrote:I remembered this from a while back...silverback wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 7:42 pm Greetings.

However, I can't figure out how to do the code reset and actuator calibration process he speaks of.
I don't see any mention of that in the FSM apart from using the scantool.
Ionbeam, any hints?

You'll need to send him a pm. I haven't seen him post for a long while, uncharacteristically.

To get into DiAG..... Kill switch in OFF...... press and hold Select and Reset, turn on ignition, continue to hold for 8 seconds.... DiAG should appear, then press and hold the two buttons for an additional 2 seconds.... in your case, you should have two options, ECU or SCU... select ECU and check for stored codes, scroll to D:61 and the number of codes is displayed, then wait, it will scroll through them automatically and repeat (so you can write them down)... now, the ECU menu is mostly for fuel injection and other things...... to clear the codes, you scroll to D:62, then cycle the kill switch.
I don't have an FJR in front of me... I think you need to exit (turn ignition off), then enter DiAG again, this time select SCU (suspension control unit). Same deal, scroll to D:61 and it will display the codes, D:62 to clear.
Code 44 is an EEPROM fault, meaning something didn't communicate, likely due to dead battery, same as Ionbeam's experience. No biggie, clear the code. Let's hope that's all you have to do....
Is SCU light on in the display? If so, Code 84 is used to reset the home position of the preload motor.... meaning you're "supposed to" remove the motor, re-zero it per instructions, (let's pretend you did)....... access Code 84, press TCS and Reset buttons for 2 seconds.... look for 00 in the display and the SCU light goes out. Should be good.

Re: 2104 ES Suspension light on, 44 on display
Thanks Ray. I think that did the trick. I am guessing the issue I have is the later FSM instead of the 2014.
In mine it says to use the scan tool to actuate code 84.

That is a problem because the 2016 ECU was forced to use an automotive OBD-II diagnostic port. "Everything changed."silverback wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 7:42 pm I bought the manual, unfortunately I flubbed and got the 2016-2018 manual.
