Blinkers not Working-Fixed….Thanks, Rayzerman
So yesterday Marie asked me why I wasn’t using my blinkers. I always use my blinkers, so we stopped to see. The panel indicates blinkers flashing, but no blinker fore/aft. Tried the emergency flasher too, but nothing there either.
Is there a common fuse/relay I should look at?

Re: Blinkers not Working
Just take Wheatie's blinkers, he doesn't use them.
Sounds like a fuse to me. You could take the panel off by the battery and look at those and see if one is burned out. I'll go look at my shop manual and see if there's a common fuse... Of course, I can barely read. So, there's that.

Re: Blinkers not Working
Two fuses, one for signaling (may include horn) and one for Hazard housed separately. Also check Backup fuse, as it protects the instrument cluster. So the good news is if all the fuses are OK, your problems should be solved given you've got all signals out. If that doesn't do it, then next step is check the connections up in the nose, but only if you happened to splice in an STS Self Cancel signal module....
There is bad news, and it would be very rare if it failed..... the turn signal relay is part of the instrument cluster...
Check also the horn works and the windshield goes up and down... the grounds are common via the signaling fuse (brown wire).
The wiring diagram is hard to read.... and in the manual they accidentally swapped component lists for the A and ES....
Let us know how you make out after the fuse check....

Re: Blinkers not Working
I checked both 7.5A fuses for indicator and flashers, both looked good.
Horn and shield both work.

Owner's Manual Page 7-34, fuse #4. I believe 7.5 amp.

Re: Blinkers not Working
Backup was blown. Thanks, Ray!
Btw, what all is the BU fuse for, other than the obvious, that I now know.

The back up fuse protects the cluster, which is a bit of a computer, and it has the flasher function incorporated in it. Mainly we think of it as keeping the power on to the clock, trip odometers, etc. also as it did in pre-Gen3.
FYI, all the signal wiring goes directly to the cluster, there are no other relays in the circuit.

Re: Blinkers not Working
Initially Yamaha was going the way of the Hondaponumus and envisioned putting reverse on the FJR.
But after spending a year trying to find an engineer to design and install it they gave up and just left that circuit open.
No thanks needed.
