To the OP: I'm sure you got more information than you thought you would receive about topics not even on your mind...but it is clearly a fun riding weekend with fellow riders, even if all this joshing about animal husbandry may lead you to believe otherwise.

Informal parking lot socials each afternoon/evening from Thursday night on, Saturday night meal and raffle, and head home whenever. Don't be shy, talk to folks - and I'm sure someone will let you tagalong with them if you ask real nice. If they aren't nice in return, it probably means you've been speaking to Wayne/extrememarine...okay, maybe I made that last one up. Maybe.
You forgot to tell him it easier to make friends if he buys a round of beer for everyone. Come on man!

Ma'am, I am mearly trying to assist OP by setting proper expectations. Imagine showing up to one of these events not even having the slightest inclination about what they are about to step into and the characters they will be accosted by. I think 8 or 9 months might not even be enough time to steel himself against what this experience shall most assuredly result in.

IE: Not scarring, or scaring, but warning and preparing. You know, looking out for the new guy. ;)

My first EOM was the year they put up some folks from a nursing home that was out of power, in the same hotel. Not sure if we had more fun or the old(er) folks sprung from the nursing home had more fun.

I think it was mutual... I loved pulling up to the front of the hotel and there they were, sitting in their rocking chairs, oo'ing and ah'ing at all the magnificent machines and pretty much all the riders just loving those folks... and the gentlemen from our group who graciously helped them into their bus as they prepared to head back to the "home"... I've often referred to my FJR riding friends as silver backs with hearts of gold because they thump their chests and stomp their feet and hump their bears but, when you need help, they will drop everything to be there for you... I speak from personal experience... and I believe that still stands. ;)

Be very cautious of liquids kept in Mason Jars.......Some past participants have forgotten their names after consuming said liquids.

Joking aside this is one of the best event you could ever ask to be a part of. As low key or exciting as you choose to participate in and you Will make friends for life. I've even ended up hosting a couple of the degenerates in my home.

Also, do not drink anything provided by poolboy, no matter how good it tastes, how large the bottle is, or how much others are drinking. All will regret that honey flavored drink the next day.
