Well if you're just going to go spend the money on the full monty, of course you'll feel it's better, 'cuz it will be. So will a new rear shock and new forks springs.. Your old suspension fading fast? Not really, you're just tired of it and looking for a reason.....

Plugged the battery tender into the '13 and installed a Kaoko throttle lock on it while looking into swapping the ECU with a '14 to up the cruise control limit. Not at all interested in getting Ivan's flash. I had that done on my '07 and I don't want to ruin the '13 like that.

Installed a new conventional horn that I got for a few dollars on amazon. It is just as loud as the stupid all in one air horn that I took off. And as an added bonus, I got to remove the horrible wiring/relay install that the PO did. I can not abide shoddy electrical work...it messes with my OCD

I just received the last YA-707 that Ohlins had in stock. I do feel blessed as they said the wait for another is 6-11 months.
Pete and I still have a fork kit (springs and valves) from GP Suspension kicking around that will be going in the front.
Got a Sykik TPMS for Christmas that will be going on previously installed T-valves.

Put a few hundred miles on it last week and thought I would do that again today. Not a good sign when I got on the bike and my feet were flat on the floor. Flat rear tire, time to put the PR4GT on I guess. Escapefjrtist is my friend.

That seems to be going around. I made an attempt at repairing mine. Glad I didn't need to use these crap strings on the side of the road. They went in the trash and I ordered some new ones.

Learned from some of my Iron Butt friends to check my tire repair stuff each year and replace anything that looks less than perfect before I end up along the road with a flat and an attitude when my repair kit stuff won't work because it's dried out.

I actually had the opposite problem. Somewhere someone recommended the self vulcanizing strings. These things were so sticky I couldn't get them off the plastic they were sandwiched between. Once free from the wrapper, they'd stick to the tire as soon as they touched it and I had to use all my might to get them to push into the tire. Once I tried to remove the tool though, they stuck to the tool and pulled back out. I've plugged many tires (because I'm cheap) and never had the fight I had with these.

I ordered up the cheap dynaplug set to test it out and a set of regular strings as backup.

Dynaplug is pretty awesome. Or, if your hole in the tire is small, it's awesome. That's way easier than anything I've used in the past, but the strings are pretty narrow. I think if I'd just pulled the screw and used the dynaplug it would have been perfect, but I used the reamer for the strings so one plug definitely wasn't cutting it. In the interest of testing, on this old but not quite yet used up tire, I put a second one in and that was holding with just an ever so slight leak. I put a third one in and now it's about as big around as a regular string and it's holding air like a champ. I put my ear right up against it and can't hear anything. We'll check it tomorrow and see if I need to yank them out and use a regular string or see how it holds.

Just checked and the dynaplugs are still holding air in the rear tire.

One added advantage to the FOBO TPMS is that I don't have to go out into the 28F garage and get my tire gauge out and bend down, pop off the valve stem caps and take the reading. I just did it from the warmth of my laundry room while standing next to the door to the garage.

I carry the Dynaplug kit with me. I had to use 2 plugs once but it held perfectly for several thousand miles afterwards so I'm not afraid to do that when needed.

Never had any trouble with sticky strings.

Make sure the glue tube isn't dried out. Even though the string may seal OK without it, the glue makes insertion of the plug MUCH easier.
Make sure you remember to take the plug kit (and compressor) with you.

Once the glue tube is opened, it can dry out quickly. Anyone know of a source for small tubes of adhesive - enough for one or two uses?

Me neither. With glue or without glue, it always sealed well...up to the design speed of the FJR. For the remaining length of the tire life.

I can echo that..... sticky strings EZ, cheap and reliable. I never used glue on any of them, but try to keep them fresh/sticky in a ziploc bag, review age every winter downtime season.
