How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
2021. For many reasons, the first 8 months made it the worst year of my life. And unfortunately, I extended my recent trend of low annual Moto miles compared to my 20 year average. I ended up riding 14,519 miles on my various FJRs, and 3,668 miles on my Kool-aid GS adventure for a total of 18,187 miles for the year. Slightly more than last year, but significantly less than any of the other of the last 18 years or so.
The Bad: A car crash in November '20, and a hiking spill in May led to significant time off the motos. Finally, a mishap on my GSA in August took me out for a short while and I missed NAFO and YFO which I had really been looking forward to.
The Good: I was healed up enough to see Ray for the last time at Reuben Run. Spent 3 glorious weeks riding around Europe. And, rode to the annual Pink's IBA gathering in Los Angeles in November enjoying some fine southern California twisties.
For me, here's to a better 2022!

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
I haven't pull my ODO reading yet, but the short answer is "not enough".
The highlights were 2 days in May in SE Ohio sharing the finer points of blind turns that lie just beyond hill crests, 7 days in July with Mr. & Mrs Designflaw exploring Wisconsin and the Michigan U.P. and rounded out with a few grand days in SE Ohio and WV for EOM that included a phone call from EltoroJoe asking, "where are you" minutes before we arrived in Beauville for lunch; after lunch I did a half ass job of holding up 6 faster riders as we found our way to Flatwoods.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
Never enough miles, but good miles. Rode mountains in the winter and spring with a visit to SEO thrown in. Rode on a few summer weekends and a ride/grillout day in the upstate, but not near enough. Two weeks of excitement and riding adventure during NAFO. Then a blighted fall filled with work. A couple excellent November rides to make up for that, then a December of work to forget. What riding I did was limited by life, but what riding I got in was savored. 2022 is starting off well with a work day putting new shoes on my son David's 2004 FJR. We may get some father son riding in. I also have bigger plans for 2022...let's see if they come to fruition.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
I started 2021 with a ride down to Key West with Dan. Rode the XT225 to Dan's winter gathering in March spent April and May test riding and moding the XT225 for the Natchez Trace 1000 that I completed Memorial Day weekend. Took the sumer off for family vacation an d just shear survival from the heat and humidity. September brought on a Saddle Sore 2000 for a much needed surprise visit with friends in Flatwoods WV. The following weekend I completed my Ride Around Texas at the Big as Texas IBA event. October brought the obligatory SFO gathering at Casa de Bence. The day after Christmas I took off on a two day ride with some local guys and I finished off the year meeting up with a fellow enabler Bill Lumberg in Fort Stockton AL at the Stagecoach Cafe for the Annual last ride of the year.... sorry I didn't keep track of mileage... but I'm almost Due another valve check for what it's worth.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
Work (again) took a toll on mileage this year. Managed ~12,000 miles on both bikes. One long-ish (Trifecta) 5300 mile trip on FJR plus a few (the box) long weekends, and a bunch of long weekends on the Tenere. Burned up a set of tires on the FJR...not that THAT is hard to do! Next year Tenere gets primary duty with a big loop to Canada and hopefully AK!
Weather in the PNW went to HE-double-hockey-sticks in November so bikes have been sitting ignored. Planned on Pinks...nope and Cali last ride of the year...nope, massive snow storm freaking everywhere.

Not as much as I'd like. Not sure the combined mileage, but I did ride all the way across the country and back over the course of two trips, so there's that at least.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
A shorter year than normal as couldn't go south to SEO or EOM....... I managed 3 main trips, one up to Lake Superior, one to eastern Ontario, and last fall had a nice trip to Quebec......... total, just look at the maintenance logs.... about 13,000 kms. (8000 mi). Planning a western trip for next summer.

As others have said, not enough, but I did get more riding in than I did in 2020, but that isn't saying much.
Riding highlights for 2021, though:
Speaking of Tech Day, I have some planning to do...
Riding highlights for 2021, though:
- Tech Day at Casa de Bust, which also included some much-needed visits with family and friends
- SEO Ramble
- A nice tour for five days before landing at EOM for a few more days of drinking too much riding with friends new and old
Speaking of Tech Day, I have some planning to do...

'Same... Gonna see if I can time it to line up with Naksup
I only did about 5-6000km during the 2021 season... A few day rides here and there a bit of commuting and that was it.
No over-nighters at all
Overall summer 2021 was a washout...

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
I haven't taken odo readings in several years, but I rode enough where I didn't feel cheated. I made SEOR and EOM and did plenty in between. While I lost one riding buddy to marriage (some of you may remember Jason from prior SEOR events), I started to ride with fellow FJRiders Art and Pete who live nearby. All in all, a good year.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
About 9,000 miles in 2021. Like many, well under my average over the past decade. Good trip to Arkansas in March. Couple of one or two nighters in East Texas and Southern Mississippi respectively. 13 days over 10 States of great riding this Fall, including EOM. I discovered 3 new States on the bike (Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio).
Moreover, they were "quality miles", if that makes sense. This may attribute in part to the lower mileage. Rather than riding just for the sake of riding, I picked my days and opportunities. I rode many miles without purpose - just for the fun of being in the wind. I rode a lot with friends and a fair amount by myself. I moto-camped a good bit with friends. We cooked, sipped the shampoo, and shared the meaning of life.
Perhaps most fondly, I embraced the "now" and the "moment" whole heartedly on my motorcycle. I laid my burdens down and allowed myself the TRUE freedom of the open road on the iron (and plastic) horse. I rather enjoyed that.
I retire July 1, 2022. Looking forward to more QUANTITY and quality miles to come. My FJR has 82,000 miles now - broken in proper.

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
I generally don't have a great idea cause I don't record the odometer at the end of a year. I just happened to do that at the end of 2020.
Probably average miles for me I guess. Lots of day ride and a couple of multi-state trips.
I was supposed to do lots of miles this year. I retired as of Sept 1. So I had a long trip planned, but life happens.
I spent August moving. Then started getting ready for trips. Got all the maintenance done on the FJR so I could tour the fall away.
Then the front of my property where I keep the FJR flooded so it was stuck in the trailer.
Along comes EOM and I decide to go anyway. I have an MT09, not the best for touring, but it works.
Sprang the FJR out of jail in time for SFO.
Then the Holidays, weather and stuff kept us from doing another ride.
So..........
More than I expected on the MT09 - 4,953
Less than expected on the FJR - 5,800
I would guess somewhere around 10,000 is about average for me.
Hope for more in 2022.
Feel like I did enough day trips, but would have liked to have gotten another long trip in.
My "riding season" for long trips has greatly increased. With my former job spring trips were off the table. I was lucky to get a long weekend. Now I am mostly just constrained by the weather. So 2022 should be a big mileage year.

Only 9,000 kms on the FJR....just ran out of space with all the covid restrictions on travel. Hope to double the rides in 2022, especially if I can make it out to Nakusp for CFR. Fingers crossed British Columbia is finished with natural disasters, at least for 2022!

Much more respectable year than 2021. Of course I retired in February, so there is that. I was on my third set of tires at the end of the year and I am also due for a valve check. No actual miles, but it was a lot. Sad I didn't get to the last Reuben Run, but so glad I got to see Ray I Colorado. FJR events included:
FWG
SEO Ramble
NAFO
EOM
SFO

Re: How Much Did You Ride In 2021?
Based on service entries in my sketchy Vietnamese maintenance log (iPhone app), 29,751 miles on the FJR. Probably about 4-500 each on the R75 and Fatboy that I tend to.
I reckon the FJR will turn 100,000 in February or March. I hope to make that happen on a ride with some fellow outlaws, weather permitting.
