Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I will eventually. I just spend most of my discretionary time riding. So I’ll have to find a time. Meanwhile, the bent wheel will be traveling in the mountains with Wheaton this Saturday.
Spent an hour at the dealer today. Discussing with them how much they loved the 21 in their showroom and how much I love my 18. While negotiations were not fruitful, I may have that discussion again in a month or two to see if either of us feel differently then…

Bill, I don't know how to tell you this, but you need to go buy a sporty bike to add to the garage. You know, so you have something to ride while the FJR is being fixed of course. No need to get rid of it when the FJR comes back, nothing wrong with having a "Spare" bike hanging around.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I'm guessing that they are pretty proud of their '21. I've had a couple of email conversations with dealers closer to me about the same subject (a '21) and right now, "MSRP plus TTL" seems to be the VERY best I can get. So for now, I'll pass and see how that looks in the middle of winter.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 1:31 pm ... Spent an hour at the dealer today. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I have an HD fat boy in the garage any time I want to ride it. I just never want to ride it. On the subject of the 21 (which I rode my fjr to see today, for thread relevancy), dealership said they didn’t expect the 2022’s to be in until April, and said that the 21 received a software update that was supposed to enhance or improve the electronic suspension settings. This dealer has been good to me, always treated me right.
But I am skeptical of both of their assertions.

“ software update that was supposed to enhance or improve the electronic suspension settings. ”
News to me.
Sorry to hear about your front rim. I bent mine before the first riding season was over. It has a tweak in close to the hub but I can still run it.
I did order up another new one now I always have a fresh tire on one or the other

Now would be a good time to get rid of that HD if you don't ride it. I got decent money for my Honda cruiser. Bikes are in short supply.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 6:33 pm I have an HD fat boy in the garage any time I want to ride it. I just never want to ride it. My dealer had ONE new bike for sale!
They don't seem to be able to supply 2021s. I would hate to sign up and wait for a 2022.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Got my FJR back yesterday. Brake switch recall done. New brake pads and Darla lights on the forks.
Those Darla lights are awesome. Due to daylight saving time I ended up coming home in the dark. When you hit bright they light things up!
How did I go so long without aux lights?

Ditto. I had both 2016 FJR and 2016 Beta 430RS on order. Peak of the VW diesel fiasco. EPA was backlogged. Know both motorcycles were onshore for a long time before all the i's and t's were crossed to be legal to sell. The FJR fuel injection was greatly changed, OBD-II added. The Beta was first year of fuel injection.El Toro Joe wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:08 am The April date for the 22 doesn't surprise me...I didn't get my 16 till April 1st.
Haven't paid close attention since but didn't think April had become the new norm for Yamaha. Know it is not for Beta.

Got the FJR and gear all set for an all day strafe of NGA and Skyway and 28. FJR pointed towards Clayton for early morning meetup.

Well though a bit premature I decided to put her away for the winter. I don't have a garage and hate to get caught off guard by the up coming winter weather so put in my seafoam, rode to my brother in law's, tucked her into the garage, plugged in the tender, threw on the cover and said goodbye for now. Just missed a vicious thunderstorm with quarter size hail and high winds with insane gusts.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I rode with an accomplished rider in the north Georgia, Tennessee, and NC mountains. 475 miles of riding bliss, aided by Bill Lumberg’s espresso, made fresh on the spot in his top case. Electrics were employed for temps between 33 and 50 degrees. Roads were dry and marvelously clear of traffic and moisture for the most part. Kept average speeds <cough> above the norm for a bright sunny autumn day in the mountains.

I’m just gonna say- some pretty good routes are hatched in Threadshitter HQ.
You keep routing and I’ll keep brewing. It was a most excellent day.

I'd like to see pics of this Top Case Expresso machine. Sitting on the top of the mountain pondering life with an expresso just seems delightful to me.

With 475 mountain miles on daylight shortened hours, the only thing I was able to ponder was: "should I really be screaming inside my helmet as we rip around these cartoonish crazy curves?".
However, it was a nice, but quick, flavorful caffeinated respite.
