Looking at caliper parts diagram, you mean the slide bolt with the threads near the head and goes through a rubber bellows? That seems to be the only bolt there is.....
Rule of proper torque, tighten til it strips and back off 1/4 turn.....
Seriously though, I don't know how you'd retap that and find a bolt that would work.... need a good used caliper assembly. Fleabay?

Lower brake stay bolt? Caliper mount is not threaded, there is a nut on that bolt. Did you lose the nut?

Well, I completely de-threaded something. Made a smooth bore out of whatever is behind and opposite the tiny rubber boot on the rear brake assembly. Watching this. I have a line on a 2014 mount in Florida. Don’t want to order something I don’t need, though.

Note to self - don't let lumberg reinstall spark plugs, oil drain bolts or final drive drain bolt at tech day.

There are only two bolts..... and the axle holding the rear caliper. Whatcha got?

Ouch! #6 strips the caliper itself.

I don’t remove that to change tire. Maybe not even to change brake pads. Do that so infrequently I don’t remember. Think I’d rather drop battery cap under my battery than to have stripped threads on my caliper.

Well... the sun doesn't shine on the same dog's ass all of the time.

This morning, we awoke to ..... a little north wind. In a RARE, all but non-existent occurrence, the temp this morning was in the LOWER 70s, and that north wind dropped the humidity to "not miserable" status.

I texted two retired buddies at 6 am this morning:

(Pants) "Go outside. it's tolerable. I'm not joking. Let's ride."

(#1) "No shit!! I'm in."

(#2) "Ditto - I'm in too, usual place, 7:30 am?"

(Pants) "10-4. see you in a bit"

We did 200 miles this morning. There was a high cloud cover shading the sun to make things even better. We rode hard and we rode well.

About 6-7 more weeks of sauna left. I kind of feel like I can make it now.....

Ordered the tires on Thursday from Revzilla and they were on my door step on Friday. Shipped from Philly. Yamaha stock tires BS T023 front and rear.
Now I have to find a shop to mount them.

I can't figure which bolt he is referring to. The #6 ONLY has threads near the head - the rest is just something for the caliper to ride on. I take this apart every year or two to clean and relube as well as anytime I have to replace pads (not often) Definitely doesn't have to come off for a tire change. The other bolts (brake stay) are bolt-and-nut. If it is the #6 part, it will have to be replaced unless the threads pulled out of the caliper can be removed from the bolt. The caliper part will have to be replaced or Helicoil/Timesert could work maybe.

Damn you Bill. I read this and then thought "Wow, that sucks!"

Then I went out to install my forks, snugged up the upper bolt on the left side by hand then grabbed the torque wrench. It turned a bit and then "POP!!" Turned it back out and the bolt brought the threads from the upper triple with it.

Off to the ebay for me.

Update: Ebay has shit. One that I have to get the ignition bolts out that have been cut off. I see that red loctite in there, no thanks. Another with complete ignition, that'd make things super easy aside from having the mismatching keys, except they don't have the keys. In a perfect world that 2014/2015 would be super easy. Except it looks like a slight part number change between 2007 and 2014.

I re-installed both wheels, freshly shoed with RoadSmart IV's and changed out the pumpkin oil. No parts leftover. Given today's thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain, a new tire-scrub session will need to wait until tomorrow.

Tread "V" is opposite for front vs rear.

If the rear spins under drive then water is channeled out. If front "spins" then it is braking so tread needs opposite of rear direction to channel water out. Tire tracks left by a driven tractor tire point in the direction the tractor came from. If the tire spins then loose dirt is pushed out rather than collected under the tire. Undriven tires leave tire tracks pointing in the direction the tractor is going.

Arrow on the sidewall is correct.

After having my fill of pizza, Coke, and donut, decided I didn't need to hang around another 2 hours for the prize drawings. So it rained on me going home. Serves me right, washed car last night. Can't convince me God doesn't have a sense of humor.

Getting ready for the Trifecta. Today the FJR has new tires, spark plugs, tb sync and fresh oil. The PR4 GTs I removed has 3/32 on the front and 4/32 on the rear, measured at center wear bar, with 4150 miles on the. Noticable undesirable wear negligable.

I did this work now on in case something went wrong and I needed to order parts. Thankfully it is not necessary.

Next week I will call some businesses in Glenwood Springs to see if food or gas is in short supply.

I can almost buy that..... what other bike tires you know are like that? What if my rear tire is under braking and not drive? What if my front is not braking and I get into one of those waterlogged hollows during rain where the trucks have all been going?
Hoping Festus remembers which direction his fronts were mounted........
