I would whether the recall was done or not.
If done I would want it to have a few thousand miles/km's post recall. If not done I'd get it done at my local dealer who did my 2017.

Would you buy a FJR with the transmission recall?

Re: Would you buy a FJR with the transmission recall?
If buying I would argue the price down belittling the transmission. But I’d buy anyway.
My dealer can only get 1 mechanic to show for work. Unemployment check is apparently too easy and lucrative. Service manager offered to pay me to install mine, “and I have 3 more fore for you after that!” What is the point of being retired if I go back to work doing something I don’t want to do? I need to be building a house. Meanwhile am riding it anyway.

I got that covered.danh600 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:05 amYou would have to get a Yamaha dealer to sign off on it.Road Runner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:05 am I would not.
It would have to be a great deal. Then I would do it myself.
I am having a Honda dealer do some maintenance work on my FJR. They can't do the recall and report it on the Yamaha database.

It's a machine designed and built by man... Fallible man.
Name ONE bike manufacturer that doesn't have issues... They all have "something" consumers can complain about.
Hell... I bought a Honda CRV for my daughter back in Dec.
It's spent more time back at the dealer with them trying to figure out an computer glitch than it's been on the road... The latest stint in the shop is going on three weeks.
I've owned a few Hondas and have never had any issues... Until THIS one.
I'd still buy a Honda.
As for buying a recalled FJR... I'm not above using the fact as a bargaining chip, but I wouldn't NOT buy one that's been recalled
