Cardo PackTalk Bold & iPhone & Garmin Zumo
I used to have a Cardo Freecom 1..Pairing it to the iPhone and then the Garmin Zumo was a frustrating pain in the ass…Now I have a Cardo PackTalk Bold ..I have it paired to the iPhone, but adding the Garmin seems to be an impossible task.
Anyone got any hints or tips?

Re: Cardo PackTalk Bold & iPhone & Garmin Zumo
I did it. Don’t remember how, just read the manual to select the GPS channel for Bluetooth.
Later deleted the pairing because when iPhone routed music to Zumo to Cardo the quality was inferior to quality of Cardo direct to iPhone.
In retrospect I wonder if iPhone and Zumo were playing music at same time to Cardo? Found how to drop volume level in Zumo. 80% ended most distortion but was not loud enough.
I gladly do without the Zumo’s spoken directions and prompts.

IPhone 8, Garmin Zumo 396
I need to be able to hear routing instructions from the Garmin because I can’t see it.

Re: Cardo PackTalk Bold & iPhone & Garmin Zumo
The Packtalk Bold manual says to hold the bottom button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode. Then click it twice more to get to channel 2 for the GPS. IIRC it announces "Pairing" for the 5 second click, then "GPS" after the double click.
Garmin Bluetooth often gets in a funky state so start by turning Bluetooth off on the Garmin. Then back on, and then start the search for the Cardo. Lost track of how many times with Sena I used to start a ride by toggling the Zumo 595 Bluetooth off/on to get it to connect to phone and headset correctly. I blame Garmin because the iPhone was already happily talking to my headset. Happens less often with the Packtalk Bold than Sena 20S or 30K.
As I said before, I've deleted the headset from the Garmin but still connect the phone on regular Bluetooth and the Bluetooth-something-else low power thing. The result is I get weather and traffic on the Zumo, plus music control and titles no matter music is not routed through the GPS.
One bone of contention is how the Zumo often cancels my shuffle play and continuous loop selection on the phone. Doesn't always, just usually. Starting to think it only does this when the Packtalk is not already connected to the iPhone. If iPhone connects to Packtalk before Zumo connects to iPhone then my settings are preserved but if iPhone connects to Zumo without Packtalk then the setting is cleared.

Make sure you have the latest Firmware in the Cardo, I have no idea how Appl;e does Firmware updates but check that too.
The Garmin you have uses an older version of Bluetooth as I recall as well.

Re: Cardo PackTalk Bold & iPhone & Garmin Zumo
The only thing I can suggest is to delete all pairing on the Cardo, reboot Cardo and start over. Perhaps pair the Garmin first on the Cardo GPS channel.

Hi Bob,
Thank you for contacting Cardo support.
To pair to your phone, please do the following.
Turn your Packtalk on
Press and hold the phone button (bottom button) for 5 seconds until the light flashes red and blue.
Look for the device to pop up in the Bluetooth settings on your phone and pair.
To pair to your GPS, please do the following.
Press and hold the phone button for 5 seconds until the light flashed red and blue
Once flashing red and blue, double click the phone button and the light should flash red and green
Once flashing red and green, roll the volume wheel toward the front of your helmet and the red and green blinking should slow down
Once slowly alternating red and green, scan for the device on your GPS and pair.
Best regards,
Brent

Ah, they modified manual since I downloaded. Now there is an optional GPS tag on Phone 2. My manual said to simply pair GPS on Phone 2.

The manual lacks significant details..by following those instructions I was able to pair the zumo in addition to the iphone easily..
