Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
So checked tire pressures and seems the summer air is holding. Been wanting to check suspension settings since my weight has fluctuated so much since my diagnosis and treatment. At the end of last season when I took my first ride after my ordeal I was about 169 down from a high of 235. Currently hovering at about 200. The couple rides last year seemed like the ride was harsh though I couldn't really put my finger on it since everything was so different for me. After reviewing some suspension threads I wound up at preload (front forks) one segment showing (no lines), compression and rebound 8 clicks out, rear shock 6 clicks out. Bear in mind this is all gen 2 stock suspension. Took about a 3 hour ride to check it out. Big improvement. Not saying this is it but so far I'm liking it. Any other gen 2 guys running stock in my weight class? What's your setup??

Page 2 of this thread -> https://www.fjrowners.com/threads/poll- ... st-1139770. Start at the end and backup to the last summary. It's for guys in our weight class who like a comfortable ride. Those settings work pretty well for me at 190 with the preference towards a little softer ride. I find most folks set suspension for racers and it's way to harsh for my tastes.FastPappy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:09 pm So checked tire pressures and seems the summer air is holding. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Loaded up, ready to hit the road to Waynesville, NC for the weekend. Tires, oil, etc. checked, maybe run through to hose it down before leaving. Went down a long, very dusty road the other day. Silver gravel dust is significantly different on silver gen2 wheels than it is on black gen3 wheels. I'm hoping to meet loads of new folks and revisit with a few I haven't seen in quite a while. It'll be an all day-er for me today, prolly get there around 7 or 8 after collecting Ken the HD Guy. I'm in no hurry.
See ya's!!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Hadn't seen that thread before in my research but winds up I'm pretty close to it except for the preload. I think a little more preload helps with the nose dive. I had always intended to up grade the fork springs and was thinking a gen 3 rear shock just never got around to it.rbentnail wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 12:50 amPage 2 of this thread -> https://www.fjrowners.com/threads/poll- ... st-1139770. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Those are the standard settings I usually recommend to all as a starting point, and tweak if necessary...... in your case for the fork preload, just crank it all the way down, you can't even come close to what you should have (in an upgraded spring). Rear preload you're stuck with, Gen3 shock would help (same 6 clicks likely).
Anyway, good job on getting to where you are.... right track IMHO.

Went to Wheels Thru Time Mcy Museum...had a big breakfast first. Rode bike fast and slow. Passed some cars. Passed an RV Bus on 276 that was hauling a Dualie that was carrying a golfcart. Asshole.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Went to the cabin alone. Tina is taking it easy after carpal tunnel surgery.
Said I was going to finish sealing and staining the cabin. She said don't go up the ladder with no one else there.
So, I was done by 9:30 am. Nothing to do but ride and visit a nice cool spring for a swim.
Florida is not that bad.

Not sure if you finished sanding and sealing or not. An Apple Watch can be configured to call 911 if you fall.

Then he'd have to finish it instead of going riding. This way he followed the wife's instructions and still got to ride. Those events are rare, and Apple is looking to ruin it for him.

Good thing Intech didn't get those same directions. He would only be able to stain the bottom 6 boards.danh600 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 1:47 pm Went to the cabin alone. Tina is taking it easy after carpal tunnel surgery.
