Beartooth Sled Art

Post by 1911 »

21 days. 7,536 miles. 3 trailer wheel bearing failures. 1 trailer flat tire. 1 Utah sandstorm. One air raid and/or tornado and/or stop fishing siren. Biblical swarms of Great Lakes insects. One morning packing up camp in a 43 degree sideways rain. Worth it? YEA! We’ve walked the ground where the Road Runner cartoons and Josey Wales were filmed. Rock-hopped across Big Muddy and attended the Beartooth Pass opening weekend party. Saw the sun come up on Superior 90 degrees from where it went down. THREE AWESOME WEEKS!

More to come later but first the FUNNY

Bearing failure is common on Bushtec's. On mine I found the inner spacer to be a bit short and that puts a side load on the bearing when tightened up. Single row ball bearings don't like side loads. Haven't had a failure since making new spacers.
Looks like a great trip.

Went by all those places yesterday, most of that snow is gone. In fact, of the 5 ones I have been up there, this visit had the least amount of snow I have seen. And the dates are similar from each year. Looks like a great time Duane.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!
