Pre-Running a REVZILLA ADVFest Big Bike Route :)
Revzilla is hosting an AdventureFest at the world-famous Buffalo Chip in mid-July.
I was asked to pre-run a route from their proposed rides to see what I thought about its suitability for "Big Bikes" and Novice-Intermediate Riders.
After finishing I told the developer that it was ok for big bikes but not for novices, I scared the shit out of myself several times, sorry no pix of the scary sections, I was busy. The worst was just before I fell the second time, an extremely deep rutted, dry slick dirt descent that had my front and rear ABS chattering to keep me going slow enough to maintain control. Somehow the Jeep and I that met each other in the middle of this stretch made it past each other.
My two falls were both dumb shit moves on my part.
Fall #1 was stopping/stopped and no ground under my left foot, boom!
Fall #2 was a bad choice of line - The SxS and ATVs had roosted a lot of silt going around the corner, I chose the high silty side when I should have chosen the inside line which was solid. A learning experience.
One wouldn't want to run most/any of this route the morning after a thunderstorm, the resulting mud would be killer.

Side note: Can you edit those videos after you publish them or are you kind of stuck like youtube? I see where you might have said "yo" instead of "to" but what do I know, maybe you do strike me as a "Yo" kind of dude.

Those trails look to be challenging on an FJR.

Yo, Jasen, Once the video is produced and the link emailed to you one can edit the video, but if edited then you get a whole new link which would require reposting the links one might have already posted.gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 10:47 pm Side note: Can you edit those videos after you publish them or are you kind of stuck like youtube? I try to proofread the damn things but as it is done on my phone (there is no windows app) it is a pain in the ass.

Ahh, too bad, would be nice if you could go back and correct it. Oh well, it is what it is.

Re: Pre-Running a REVZILLA ADVFest Big Bike Route :)
Nice video. Looks like wrong tires for the ride. A few more and deeper knobbies would have help a bunch.

Re: Pre-Running a REVZILLA ADVFest Big Bike Route :)
We intentionally wanted to try this with 90/10 or 80/20 tires as that is what the bulk of the ADV bikes use. You really don't need TKC 80s to ride to Starbucks you know!
Knobbies would have helped in the ass puckering down hill section mentioned above. Everywhere else the Trailsmarts worked just fine.
