I'm telling you, it's like they knew where the border was. I was find going up through northern Colorado. Stopped at the state line sign for a picture and had to rush to get back on the bike because they were all over me. There to the next gas stop was just a non stop cloud of bugs.

I hit a patch of love bugs in 2016 west of San Antonio doing a bbg. They were everywhere through that patch of road, and cleaning the visor was not fun. 2 yrs ago I was going through N Dakota west to east on the interstate, there were some fat juicy bugs for nearly the whole state, not sure what kind they were but I gave up trying to keep the windshield clean, I just settled for keeping the visor clean enough to still see.

June bug @ 70mph to the side of your helmet will introduce physics to you quite graphically and loudly.

First learning to ride motorcycles I discovered the bug thing by riding through a swarm of dragonflies at 80mph and took one to my unarmored leather covered knuckle on my Katana 600. Ouch!

Started getting ready for my western trip. Praying nothing comes up to stop me like last year (non covid related).

Decided to sync TB for the 12th time to get rid of the vibration when i sync'd a few years ago using a crap motion pro i had that was long ready for trash. This time much improved and i think i can't get better. Step 1 down. Figured i change the rear dif oil so thats done. Trying to squeeze in an inspection today before the weekend is a rain outout. June 17, 6am departure.

Thinking about an oil and filter change since the engine cases were split in January for trans replacement. I know fresh oil was used but...

Hit a swarm of something on the PA Turnpike at 75. I always wear a jacket, gloves, since I use the turnpike to commute to work. They hurt. I got home and the front of my FJR looked like I spray it with syrup. The worst I ever cleaned. Not sure what they were.

Put a PR4GT on the rear. On a work night. Working, uncharacteristically, tomorrow. Normally wouldn’t have tackled it after a long day with work in the morning. Because I suck at mechanics.

But, with a little help from my son, it was fast and easy. That old PR2 probably had a week of commutes or one hard day left on it. But I plan on tearing shit up over the next week. The front was replaced with an R5GT last weekend.

It just couldn’t wait. Now I have no-new-tires in the garage anxiety.

I'm sensing a lot of peeps here getting the bike ready for something. Of course it varies, but that matters not. The important part is that people are getting ready to RIDE. A far cry better than this time last year.

Ride on.

Today, I did nothing to my FJR. Except I let the 6 year old kid next door sit on it and play with the controls. He likes the electric windshield. That makes two of us. He's got that look in his eye. Undeniable. Totally understandable. I told him Mom that it's only a matter of time.....

Finished all the work on the bike. Tires, fluids and finding touring stuff. The FJR hasn't been out to play for awhile.
Next week doing Norcal, in July going to the San Juan islands in Wa. and NAFO in August.

Washed the front, side plastic, and back plastic. I will save getting down on the ground for a thorough clean and wipedown for another day.

Well what do ya know? Another "cold" front has made it to the coast. Weatherman says tomorrow morning low will be 63, 4 degrees cooler in central Louisiana. High is the low 80s, and get this - humidity below 40 PERCENT!!

Now - what... pray tell what will Pants do with himself with that forecast? Hmmm.....
