Try this link to Fred W's How-To on the other sandbox. The entire thread has several posts about how to fiddle with the gas cap, but due to the thread's age and PhotoFucket many of the pictures are missing. Fred's post is sufficiently intact.

IIRC, it's just about the size of a BB. I could send ya a few if you want to try them.

I'm trying to source one now. FredW sent me the dimensions.

This all started from my Aux tank (which is plumbed through the vent line) sporadically not transferring. Pulled cap apart saw the ball was gunked shot it with a can of carb cleaner and Poof! Like magic the ball just disappeared

I think I have a spare one laying around here. Let me look and I can send it to you of you need it. I know the ring is broken, but it prob still has the ballbearing.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

The ring is broken from a tank bag incident. Did you know that all the fasteners are not the same length. The previous owner broke it when he attached a tank bag to the ring.

It’s yours for free, just get me your addy if it can help you.
