Re: Hump Day Pre Dawn Follies
I got some really long nylon ties used for ductwork from our maintenance department this morning. That allowed me to tie up the stand and avoid the exhaust.
My Chinese springs arrived. None fit. I stretched one. Too far. Stretched the next one just right. I trust them as far as I can throw them, but there’s one on the bike, working fine for the moment, while I await an original, crash tested, spring from my hero extrememarine.

It.Chinese springs should arrive today. I need to figure out how to bypass this, not for normal operation, but for times like this.
I have some extra from my KLR if you need it

Come on man! Everybody knows any self respecting KLR owner buys the wire in bulk at the dollar store.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 6:35 pmHey Bug, are you SURE you can spare it??????Bugnatr wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 5:34 pmBailing wire is your friend.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 8:01 am A cable tie lasts about 20 minutes before heat melts

It's too deep, this is a bike not a canoe.

Wayne’s part received and installed. Man, I don’t know how a selfish bastard like me lucked out, but I’m grateful.

Yup, Wayne's misfortunes are another man's good luck. Wayne gave me a centerstand when my 03 centerstand decided to take a dump a few years ago.

For the record, I do not intend to restock my "spare bike parts" stash. I've managed to end the 4 year cycle of "significant events"!!

Re: Hump Day Pre Dawn Follies
I got around to cleaning pegs, boards, rear brake, and associated parts today.
Holy f@$k- the underside of the left peg was mauled. Smeared like someone took a welder to it. And not just where I’ve scraped it on the road. Had to use a file to take the slag off.
Sooo. Now I know the spring didn’t fail and what hit me (or I hit) in the dark a couple of weeks ago wasn’t the deployed stand contacting the road. Something formidable contacted the bike. And other than a mangled peg, I was very fortunate not to have had damage further than losing a spring. It’s a wonder it didn’t make a hole in something important.
