TBS port Rubber Caps and Clips

Post by FJRoss »

What does anyone use for replacements for these? On-line parts place quotes:
https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamah ... s/intake-2

25 CAP
895-14169-00-00 In Stock $3.92 ea

26 CLIP, PIPE
8A7-14139-00-00 In Stock $2.63 ea

Any other source for these? They get chewed up after a couple of times on-and-off; mostly because of the clips.
Are the clips really necessary? I have lost a couple into the bowels of the bike and haven't replaced them (yet).

Vacuum caps from Auto Zone. I don't really worry about the clips.

Yes, vacuum caps or equivalent, longer and no clips necessary.

Near me, O'Reilly's auto parts. 5/15" vacuum caps. No clips needed.

5/16" ??
Doesn't seem that big? Or is that a part #?

Just measured an old one and got 12mm L x 7.5 mm OD
ID approx 3.5 mm

Hard to measure precisely. I'll just take an old one to NAPA and get the best match. Too tight and they may split prematurely.

1/8"/3mm good, 5/32" OK too. I have used leftover caps from SpeedBleeders. You'll find the ones at the auto supply are much thicker wall, no worries about rotting away anytime soon.
