It is a shame in this day in time you can't give an awesomely worded compliment and not offend snow flakes.

At least any marine I have every met young or old would give a good belly laugh upon hearing that.

What is the fun if you can’t melt a few snowflakes?

Snowflakes like to be offended.

I remember years ago, a female Air Force Officer (I think) was forced to give an apology to the USMC because of an offensive comment she made publicly about not wanting to work with Marines because they were scary and dangerous. I know of not one single Marine who was offended and thought she should apologize or be punished for her remarks.

See you Saturday. I have 2 choices

My route down is either 6.5 hours of interstate and 4 lane or this
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Georget ... 422222!3e0

This is 9 hours and the last 5 are awesome.

Good thing I have 2 new tires!

Man I am jealous!!!!

Funny thing on our first trip to AR we took the camper. We wanted to camp and do day rides. We had reservations at I am almost positive Shady Oaks. My BIL and SIL decided they wanted to come with us. They wanted a place with cabins and was dog friendly. So we moved to another campground just for them. They stayed one night and left.............

Oh well, ended up fine. We ended up doing lots of riding and staying in a couple of state parks. Arkansas State parks are very nice. At least the ones we went to.

I heard Shady Oaks was a little nicer than Dogwood Springs Campground that we stayed at a couple of days. Not sure I didn't get to see Shady Oaks. The reviews are about the same on the internet and now says both places are dog friendly. Don't think that was the case then. Dogwood Springs has a pool, but open to the public. So it was full of mouth breathers most days.

I miss Arkansas.

No matter what direction you take the last few miles are going to be awesome if you are headed to the Jasper area.

I don't think there is a bad road leaving Jasper!

Shady Oaks is our go to place there. It has cabins in the back and are adding all the time. The place used to be owned by a super cool lady and just a few years ago sold to a new couple who has really built up the place. They have added lots of more sites and other accommodations. It really used to be kinda small and unknown. Now they are much more promoted and get lots of traffic. I think I saw some award that they were one of the best new campgrounds in the Ozarks.

The first 3 hours to St. Lou are boring, but I will use that to make up time so I can play more on the backroads. We will have room for others if you are up for riding some hooligan stuff.

I clipped my gps on and checked fluids today. Been slammed for months at work, until this week. Currently mulling whether I’m going to sweep Georgia for Tour of Honor April 1st, or, to borrow the name of a Red Fang album, murder the mountains for a couple or three days. Between an eye tuneup yeaterday, and a knee that aches when I’m not moving (a memento from being knocked down in traffic early this year), I’m not sure if I’ll tolerate 20 straight hours on the bike for TOH as well as I normally do.

Preparing New York strip with a side of George Dickel #12 this evening, which will surely lead to divine inspiration.

While Pants and Josh are enjoying thunderstorms tonight in the Ozarks in a tent I rode my FJR to Grand Coulee Dam yesterday. Yes I realize there is a 24 hour time difference but I couldn't help but look at the weather forecast after hearing thunderstorms in the south. Y'all be safe. Tomorrow they have blue skies and smooth sailing for the next few days.

Here are a few photos of my fun yesterday.

Grand Coulee Dam. It has a hydroelectric power capacity of 6,809 MW more than any other dam in the US, plus it provides for crop irrigation for 671,000 acres in arid Eastern Washington. The down side is fish can't get upstream anymore.

Image

Dry Falls overlook site of the greatest water falls during the Ice Age Floods. My FJR hat went there in 2018 and I created a ride report covering the geology and added some photos.

Image

Steamboat Rock along Banks Lake. The lake was created after Grand Coulee dam was built. Water is pumped up 400 feet from behind Coulee Dam to Banks lake for irrigation. Those engineers are pretty darn smart. Maybe next week I will hike to the top of Steamboat Rock and let my mind wander.

Image

Hwy 155 from Dry Falls to Steamboat Rock. Yep these photos are in no particular order.

Image

Image

The cliffs were cut out by the Ice Age Floods. The water was 300-400 over the top of these cliffs and at the time would have appeared as a mere ripple.

It was a good day to be on the FJR.

My mount and cable came in for the Garmin XT. Pulled the bike a little bit apart so I could remove the wiring for the old Garmin, pull the phone chargers since

A. I haven't ridden with a phone since I lost mine on the highway.
B. My current phone has a worn out USB-C port that the cables just fall out of anyway so no point.

My sad FZ1 Fuzeblock has the Garmin and an additional cigarette lighter with dual USB-A ports in it that aren't being used. One port really in use. Sigh. Oh well, the new Garmin looks good on the bike, way better than the old one.

Had a semi productive day though, also got in my remote control for my GoPro so have to figure out how I'm going to use it on the FJR. Worked on the Land Cruiser, the DRZ, the Dodge Dakota and trimmed the roses. Busy day.
