3rd Luggage Key Cylinder - Where is it?
Apparently Yamaha includes a third key cyclinder keyed accessory lock for future needs. The previous owner said he didn't have it in the documentation package nor did he see or look for it under the seat. A few months ago I had a quick look around when I got my bike in the under seat area but it wasn't jumping out at me. (Note. Bike is in winter storage now so I cant look at this time). Any specific location I need to look to find it e.g hidden off to the side etc.?

Re: 3rd Luggage Key Cylinder - Where is it?
The side case and trunk locks were in a bag under the rear seat near the tail light. Also included were the body panel plugs to cover the body holes when the bags are removed. When I took delivery of both my new FJRs the dealer had stapled the plastic bag to the motorcycle paperwork along with the spare key. Two of the locks were installed in the side cases, so the dealer had already fished the bag out. And speaking of which, verify the two tiny T-10 tamper resistant Torx screws that hold the bag locks on have been loctited.

Re: 3rd Luggage Key Cylinder - Where is it?
When I bought mine, the top case lock came with it.
Then I found a used top case that already had a lock and key.
Being lazy, I didn’t change the lock.
Just put the other key on my key ring!

I have the top box lock from my wreck. I don’t have a key but you can have it and get it Re keyed to your key.

My spare lock cylinder was in the tail of my bike by the tail light, in the bag. I got the little silver plugs too but didn't know what they were. I put them somewhere and CANNOT find them. I finally bought some from someone else had Garauld painted then for me.
I'm sort of sure my extra cylinder is still in the tail of my bike. If not, it's with those dammed plugs.

Re: 3rd Luggage Key Cylinder - Where is it?
If BlueStar ends up buying another lock it can be re-keyed as previously mentioned. A locksmith can do the job, but it's simple to do and most people would be able to move around the tumbler segments to get them to match the key.
There is another option to avoid having two keys. The FJR locks are one sided, that is only one cut edge on the key is needed to operate the locks. The key can be cut with one key pattern on one edge and the other edge can be cut with a different key pattern. Put the key in the lock in one direction and it can operate the ignition, gas cap and side bags, then flip the key 180° to operate the trunk lock. Perhaps mark the key with a filed notch or a dot of paint (fingernail polish) to indicate the key orientation.

Just an FYI... the locks are not that secure. They’re easily “raked” and opened.
