So I'm guessing the WV border is closed for Abercrombie...... is it a time out or is that permanent?

I'm hoping both you and my "friend from Fargo" (what the local weatherman calls all Dakotans) show up to help clear the driveway tomorrow evening so spkldoe can get back in as I'm betting she gets called into work in the morning.

Maybe I'm a little goofy but I love blowing snow with a walk behind snow blower. If I have the free time I won't stop until everyone's driveway on the street is cleared out. I find it so satisfyingly watching tons of snow launching out the chute to leave a nice clean driveway. Its my winter fun on two wheels.

74º and sunny yesterday. Went to the gun show and seems like everyone from 5 states was there. Several signs and occasional PA announcements about, "if you came into the hall and are walking around, that means you agreed to wear your mask... and that means over both your nose and mouth". As they were going on, I could easily spot the random maskless as well as a plethora of chin diapers. The vast majority were mindful of others though.

Sure looked like a potential "super spreader" if such really exist.

Sold a Ruger LCP in .380ACP w/3 extra mags and all the OEM paper as well as more than 1000 rounds of mostly high-end defensive ammo for about $1200. Less than current pricing and less than my "asking" but more than I had in the whole setup.

I got up at 5am yesterday and did the coffee/e-mail thing. Then got to work.

Starting around 7am and finishing (for the night) at around 10pm. Unloaded the master BR, tore down the old waterbed frame with the California King mattress and put the all that wood to the curb (sadly no one seems to be interested in free lumber this week). Tore down the queen sleigh bed in the guest room and unloaded that room. Vacuumed and shampooed the carpets in both, did linens for both, set up the sleigh bed in the master BR and loaded back in the room (mostly - the CA king mattress has to stay propped up along 1 wall until 2/16 when Salvation Army will pick it up. There's also the question of what do to with the metric ass tonne of pillows my wife had stashed throughout the master BR.

Waiting for the new queen frame for the guest BR. Then I can arrange delivery of the new queen mattress/box springs.

Just because I wanted a new mattress.

What's this to do with winter? Didn't get chilly at all while doing all that work.

The bed frame came in yesterday so it went in. I had to smile when I thought it was like a fancy army bunk. I wanted "minimal" and this seems it.

If you look at the outlets in the room, you'll notice the odd thing about our house. All the outlets were upside down (ground plug up). For 2 years (during which our house was built, of course) the city had a code that nowhere else in the state had; ground plug up. Seems someone thought it would be smart in case something fell across and exposed plug; it'd touch the ground instead of power. I've been casually flipping them over the years but this room's not been unloaded like this in some time. I'm thinking today is the day to do them all in that room.

Well we are having a little winter here. It was in the 40s last night.

I like the cool weather. However this cold front has a ton of wind with it. It's been blowing 30mph for like 3 days. That is pretty unusual for here. Once the cold front passes it's generally nice and cool with no wind.

Not sure how you guys can stand real freezing wind.

I like the cold, but could do without the wind that comes with it.

Which way are they supposed to be when they're on the floor or ceiling?

On our last house I wired all the wall outlets ground-pin up. 17 years, no issues. On our current house I wired them pin down. Only 7 years so far, will report the results of this experiment in 2031.

The electrical code here does not care. Put them sideways if you want, as long as they are properly grounded and have the right polarity, good to go. Some have a preference, ground down because it "looks right" as a smiley face.

The direction of the outlet is a local code thing, NEMA doesn't have a standard for the orientation of NEMA 5 receptacles.

Got that room's outlet flipped in less time than it took to update macOS (including setup and cleanup). Easy peezy when you can get to them with all that clearance.

I've wired hundreds of residences and commercial sites and all were ground-down. Any kind of plug other that straight-outward always ends up with their cords trying to reach upward. I also note that wall-wart power adapters often expect ground-down. Their weight makes them try to drop out when the ground is up; re-enforcing the idea that it's a good idea to the code writers who musta been smokin' the whacky tabbacky.

Ceilings are up to you. I would look at the site, consider what will be plugged into it, and then which direction you want the cord(s) going when plugged into it. You can sort of see where I used an outlet for the ceiling light in the shop.
