Re: Transmission recall
I think the fact that I’ve babied this bike from the day it rolled off the showroom floor is the only reason that I’ve gone so long without the transmission failing. I’m thankful that it didn’t fall into the hands of some hapless hoon, who surely would have overtaxed the faulty part, placing themself and god knows who else in danger.
Gentle on the throttle, and easy does it. Pretty much sums up my riding style. Thank goodness.

Re: Transmission recall
Picked my bike up today, mine was three of four that this dealer is doing - as far as he knows.
Senior tech is doing this recall in about 11 hrs.
Didn’t get a chance to test ride it yet - winter.

Re: Transmission recall
Picked my bike up from completing the recalls. Road about 30 miles home. Spirited... :>)
Shifting is smoother, but it may be me. Now bring on the riding season.
Snow is moving in so further riding is out for a while. Just good to have it home.

Re: Transmission recall
Called my dealer a bit ago, yep there's a recall for sure. Imagine that. He's checking for parts availability and will let me know when to drop it off, then I asked for the complimentary all inclusive warranty funded Rayzerman express pick up and delivery, no go. Imagine that.

Re: Transmission recall
I understand your concern but
Hmmm, what don't I know about Cayon Dancer 2 tie downs? I used them dozens of times for the FJR. Arkansas x3, Texas x2, Red Lodge x2, Phoenix, Utah, lacrosse, hopefull a trip to Florida next month and other short hauls likely approaching 20,000 sad miles of safe Canyon Dancer 2 use on a FJR in a trailer or the back of my pickup.

Re: Transmission recall
Some get excited about Canyon Dancers, but watch how most tie down their bikes with way too much force when it is entirely unnecessary with a good wheel chock. Meanwhile, if I can spread it out wide, no problem. With two on the trailer I will primarily tie down with the crash bars with Canyon as light backup for longer trips.

Re: Transmission recall
When I had a tire go flat a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t fix it roadside, the tow driver had straps from the bars (no-no, helibridge), and they were across the paint. Instead of telling him f@$k no, I suggested that it might be less work to use the engine cages and luggage guards. It took a minute, but he redid everything. It was legit from there on. Luckily, because that truck had zero suspension. The bike got flexed like I was riding it, chasing Wheaton, on the haul road. .

Re: Transmission recall
Well the lower triple clamps are a much better location but the angle of the straps doesn't work in the back of my pick up or to the E-channel in my trailer without putting pressure or wear on the plastics.raYzerman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 7:11 pm Some get excited about Canyon Dancers, but watch how most tie down their bikes with way too much force when it is entirely unnecessary with a good wheel chock. Transmission recall
I too have used a Canyon Dancer on both the 15 and 04. Absolutely no problems and like Abercrombie, mine has been thrown in the back of a small pickup or trailer many times. The only issue I have ever had was the front wheel trying to turn a little in the back of the Tacoma on the way to Spearfish. Traversing I-90 at 85 plus and hitting some of the up and down dips tended to pogo some. That was never a problem in the Ridgeline become of the deep channels in the Honda. The front tire sat perfectly in there as did the KLX. I have since learned my lesson and will build a front whee securing device if I have to haul the FJR anywhere. That with the Canyon Dancer plus tie-downs on the GIVI 357 rack keep the bike solidly in place. I used to run a strap through/over the swing arm to keep the bike down and forward. But that seems overkill.
