@#$k a buncha winter!

Post by spklbuk »

Channeling non-summer this afternoon.
Image

I tried to find the process exhilarating but I met with limited success. The wind changed at least 487,003.5 times (I counted). But I'm not sure how many times were meteorological and how many were attributed to a staccato of expletives directed at the metrology!
Image

But El Toro the Red eventually got things wrapped up.
Image

And stockings were hung by the chimney without care.
Image

Then life took a definite turn for the better as I retrieved a hunk of the other white meat from a low and slow oven... perfect!!
Image

And I put together a plate of pure goodness...loin, tater/veggie medley and mixed fruit salsa/salad.
Image

So I reckon there in is only one last thing to say...here's to you Ma Nature..

Let's see, we got 2-3" here on Tuesday and as I was having my morning coffee on Wednesday, I heard a scraping noise outside. Neighbour was out clearing our driveways in their nice newish shiny Kubota with the glass cab and........ it's a rough life sometimes.

My shiny OLD tractor is waiting on you to come down and supervise a block heater install Here Ray.

In the meantime you are ranking up there pretty close to Mr. Wheaton! 😬

Not so bad here in Tropical Montana. Bought a new snowblower in the Summer of 2019 and have about 1.5 hours on it. 48 degrees here today on the eastern slope of the Rockies. Planning on a ride tomorrow with Spousal Unit on the Urals. Could be worse.....

"It" is in reference to the driveway itself.

Spklbuk, I have a dumb question:

It doesn't look like you have much snow. You have a smooth set of tire tracks running down that road, so if you're not having any problems, why bother going out with the snowblower? You said it's gonna melt before it snows again, so it doesn't seem like it will be so much that you can't just drive over it. Are yo6 just trying to stay ahead of it?

We get snow like that but don't usually worry about it unless it gets deep enough to be a problem or it continues to stack up and will become a problem. It almost looks like you could have been on your porch enjoying a cold and frosty one and not stressing that little bit of snow. That's the only reason I ask.

Ya, I don’t understand why people live in places with harsh winter weather, like California. Thank goodness we live in a Tropical Paradise.

Partial melting then refreeze to solid ice sheet makes working woman Spkldoe very unhappy. Running over it only makes for better ice.
And if the shack were to burn b/c the fire truck couldn't get across the ice, State Farm would be unhappy. And there is EMS access... I'm old.
Getting some of the gravel exposed will let in enough sun on a 40* day (like Sat forecast) to melt off the track. There will still be ice at the mouth of the shady driveway.

Just ask the deer how much fun the crusty snow is. We used to get a deepening snow pack from Christmas to April and then Spring would pop.
Now, those fluckers in CA and the Dakotas (weatherman calls them our friends in Fargo) send us repeated storm fronts so we get a few days winter, spring thaw, then more winter. All leading to persistent crust and ice. It sucks.
The latest Pacific sky shit that is piling on deserving Dougie will be here Saturday night starting as snow, then sleet and rain, the back to snow thru Tues, making better crust. Thanks for sharing so freely Mr. Bugnatr.
