Just read on another FB site that numbers 02 thru 8XX (last six ex. 000629) are affected. I hope the poster is wrong as mine is in that group!!!!!

If I had one of these, I'd want mine in that group and I'd want to know why/how I was excluded..... just me. Anyway, be patient, it's early in the US recall, numbers not complete.

Let me ask a potentially silly question. Let’s say you do not take the bike in after you get the recall notice. Do they give you a “Stop Operation” order with a recall?

Can you take it in during the next winter? I would be a little miffed if they told me to bring it in and sat on it for quite a bit of the summer.

Also, what if the bike frags a tranny before you get it in for service? Do they still have to fix it?

I am not angle shooting here, just never had a vehicle experience this. Thanks

I asked those exact same questions to my dealer.

It’s a recall, no time limitations. Get it repaired now or 5 years from now.

If one chooses not to have it repaired now and it shits the bed, you are challenged with having to prove that it was the second gear that caused the issue.

My dealer was very upfront with me. The chances of this actually breaking is pretty slim but he sure wouldn’t feel very good hearing that it did and someone (me) got hurt.

Why chance it.

My bike will be the second or third being repaired at this dealer. After the initial conversation he orders the parts. When they arrive he calls and sets an appointment. No need for the bike to be sitting in the shop for an extended time. Two days max.

I ended up calling Yamaha yesterday, (Wednesday), the guy on the phone was very nice but not too helpful. When I said why I was calling he said he hadn't come across any recalls yet. He did some checking and basically said they were still waiting to get their letters approved by the higher ups. He did say not to ride the bike until I receive the letter. Something about our conversation felt like he knew already and just couldn't tell me as of yet. He even confirmed my address. I told him about the 13th letter release and he didn't know anything about it.
So, just going to forget about it until I hear or read more about it on this forum. I still have my Super Tenere if the FJR gets tied up.

Actually think you would have the responsibility to demonstrate it was not 2nd gear that grenaded your engine. On recall you have been served notice that Yamaha is willing to modify your vehicle to prevent this sort of thing from occurring. And if you let it occur for postponing the repair then it is not Yamaha's responsibility.

Where in the world did you get this information? Yamaha has been issuing recalls and TSBs since 2006 starting with the dash replacement. My '07 had 3 recalls itself. No, Yamaha has screwed the pooch steadily over the yrs and its dealerships (2 of them) broke shit on my bike in the process.

Where in the world did you get this information? Yamaha has been issuing recalls and TSBs since 2006 starting with the dash replacement. My '07 had 3 recalls itself. No, Yamaha has screwed the pooch steadily over the yrs and its dealerships (2 of them) broke shit on my bike in the process.

It was humor, I've had Yamaha's since 2009 and never had a recall. Dealers breaking stuff on your bike has nothing to do with a recall. It may have been there for a recall, but a mechanic breaking something is the mechanic's fault, not Yamaha. Again, it was humor....

Additional perspective in the other sandbox, some have been in contact with dealers and Yamaha... I'm sure Yamaha and their supplier (may be in house) is still trying to piece together what's affected and what if any is not. Years in the autobiz tells me it evolves..... the first list won't likely be the last of it, my spin.
