ES Maintenance
The old girl is all cleaned up and put away for the winter.
Time to start the winter maintenance.
Are there any specific things that should be addressed with the rear electronic suspension?

Make sure you're two up Passenger and pillion in a romantically lit garage and for goodness sake don't make it look anything like this out in the open. You'll scare the rest of the farm animals in the corral.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 8:43 pm Make it go up and down alot to exercise the piston.

Ummmm, WHY do you have that picture bookmarked or saved for easy access? I KNOW why! Weirdo! Actually, it's ok. There is a LOT of handsomeness on that quad. It's hard for most regular humans to see that and not get excited.Abercrombie FJR wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 11:04 pmMake sure you're two up Passenger and pillion in a romantically lit garage and for goodness sake don't make it look anything like this out in the open. Bad Ray, return back to here and watch the video again
Mebby put a cork (screen) over the air intake to keep mice out of the air box. Remember to occasionally walk by the bike over the course of the winter and show it some

Re: ES Maintenance
Man, did this go off the rails in a hurry.
Just curious if the rear shock preload mechanism might need some routine maintenance.
Maybe I'll just wing it when I remove the linkage and swingarm for the it's regular service.

Well, remember that even though you didn't get an answer, you did get an answer. Since all you got were smart assed remarks that means there is nothing important or pressing that needs done. I agree with your assessment and would just do the regular linkage stuff when it is due.Canadian FJR wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:33 am Man, did this go off the rails in a hurry.

When winter hits, I add heated gear and a larger screen to my ES. If you rub the bike with aerostich, that helps things keep from seizing up too.

Re: ES Maintenance
Yamaha has no recommend maintenance for the ES rear shock. And not for the front forks either. How about that!?! Those units have moving parts along with oil. No maintenance, eh? I got some ocean front property in Arizona for sale. JSNS.

Re: ES Maintenance
You said storage, not regular maintenance. The FortNine video did nothing for me, Seafoam it is.
Yes you should pull the rear shock linkage down and grease it the first year you have it.

I agree that the video on fuel stabilizers was unconvincing. Certainly not a source that will serve to influence my decisions in regards to fuel stabilizers.
